A quiet mountain village taken last summer . In these days the green meadows are probably full of snow.

''Fie' allo Sciliar is a municipality in the province of Bolzano-Bozen in the Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 60 km northeast of Trento and about 12 km east of Bolzano (Bozen).
The villages belonging to the municipality of Fiè nestle among gentle hills and forests of the plateau extending at the foot of the mighty Sciliar.
The symbol of South Tyrol, so to speak the Scilar, is also the symbol of Fiè allo Sciliar. Dominating the high-altitude pastures on which Fiè and its localities San Constantino, San Antonio, Fiè, Umes, Aica di Fiè e Santa Caterina are located, the massive Sciliar mountain has already impressed the Romans. In fact they used its highest elevation, the Monte Castello (Burgstall), as cult site.

Beside its alpine surroundings, Fiè allo Sciliar offers a series of further highlights. A varied landscape ranging from the vineyards of Valle Isarco at 315 m asl to the main village at 900 m asl and the dense coniferous forests up to the peaks of the rough Dolomites. A tradition as health resort, in which hay baths have always had an essential role to play. Culinary delights, culminating in the gastronomic week “Völser Kuchlkastl“. Last but not least, Castel Presule, the family seat of the Lords of Fiè.

By the way, Fiè allo Sciliar is only a stone’s throw away from Castelrotto and the Alpe di Siusi on the one hand, on the other hand also from Tires and the Catinaccio.''
