Sweet Tuscany Photo

Photographer’s Note

Isolated on the rolling hills between Pienza and San Quirico d’Orcia, the Vitaleta chapel and the adjacent farmhouse are easy to miss, even if they are among the most famous icons of Tuscany, as they are standing away from the main road.

I am digging in my archives tonight, as my hard disk containing every shots from my latest trips in Asia and Canada is busted... I'm praying the God of Pixels to make sure I will not loose any photos.

That might be the ultimate reason why I felt the urge to post an image of a chapel... :-(((

J'espère que tu récupèreras toutes tes photos ! Il m'est aussi arrivé d'en perdre ;o(
L'image est bien composée, faisant la part belle à ce ciel au couchant auquel je suis habitué. Pureté, simplicité et couleurs font la beauté de ton image.

Quelle douceur tu nous montres là... Le dégradé du ciel est superbe jusqu'aux couleurs des montagnes.
* tu peux toujours complèter par qq cierges au cas ou...

Bonjour André,

De temps en temps, je me dis qu'il vaut mieux que de tels joyaux ne soient pas à proximité immédiate de la route... La lumière du soleil levant (ou couchant) est tout simplement extraordinaire. Éventuellement une focale encore plus longue, même s'il faut prendre encore plus de recul aurait permis de rapprocher encore l'arrière plan...

et bien je compatis pour le disque dur, ça m'est arrivé il n' y a pas très longtemps. J'envoie une offrande au dieu des Pixels et autres Octets en espérant que tu n'auras rien perdu!
En tout cas cette photo est vraiment superbe. Le cadrage donne une bonne part au ciel, qui le mérite avec ce superbe gradation de tons rosés. La lumière qui frappe l'église et la maison est elle aussi très belle. Une nette impression de sérénité se dégage de cette scène. J'aime beaucoup.

Oh No! I can almost feel the pain! And you have no back-up? I learned the hard way not to delete a card until I have at least two copies....after I lost over 1,000 images. Fingers crossed you can recover them.
It gave you the opportunity to show us this beauty. Those trees scream "Tuscany" at us. The light is gorgeous and it's tinting the sky a wonderful rose colour. I love how the tall trees are framing the little chapel like twin sentinels.

je joins mes prières aux tiennes pour que tu n'aies pas perdu tes photos!C'est trop bête ,trop rageant!Je me souviens de mes larmes un jour où j'en avais perdu....50!Alors toi,je n'oses même pas imaginer!Je pense que c'est une piètre consalation pour toi si je te dis que cette photo est merveilleuse,que tu as bien fait d'aller fouiller dans tes archives,que les couleurs douces et la lumière sont magnifiques,et que c'est superbement cadré!Tiens nous au courant,mais t'inquiète pas,mes prières sont efficaces!

Hello André,

Quand je parlais de lumière...
Ici, tu nous offres un parfait exemple de magnifique lumière. Associée aux quelques éléments du paysage, le ciel est absolument splendide.
Le contraste qui manquait dans ma photographie est ici bien présent grâce à ce sol vert sombre !
C'est vraiment très beau !

J'espère de tout coeur que tes ennuis informatiques seront résolus très vite !!

Hi Andre,
I envy you, travelling around the world. You probably go to the moon too when it’s available :) Anyway, beautiful shot as always. However, I have a couple of suggestions. As much as I like big sky, especially one with this beautiful colors and tones; however, in this case I think you can afford to bring us closer to the villa by cropping some of the sky, and make it more of a panoramic view, giving the essence of the wide open land. You can also go further and crop some more of the left and take us even closer, yet still have the feeling of wide open land and big sky. The colors her is like wines, so rich, I’m already intoxicated in the richness of the colors, so I would tone it down just a tad as well.

Pastelly pinks dominate this serene and beautuful landscape. Nice how you have so much of the graded sky and the small buildings and trees look so perfect in the landscape, almost too perfect, it reminds me of those scaled models that they create sometimes.

What a soft sky colours above a lovely Toscane landscape. Good choice for a low horizon. The rolling curve of the field adds to the charm.

well now I am quite envious...I have gone through all of Tuscany by car and have not encountered a sight like this, how come!! really beautiful, very sweet indeed, the colours are like painted...typical Tuscany!

A couple of months ago, I saw a photographic article on Tuscany by Fabio Muzzi. The pictures had blown me over & your picture can easily stand alongside that collection IMHO. The pastel shades in the sky is absolutely surreal! The colours are like a painting..this seems to me more like a dream than reality!
