Castello di Postignano – Sellano (PG)
Perched on the slopes of Mount Purugia, the Castle of Postignano dominates the Vigi valley from its high towers, along an ancient route that connected Spoleto and Norcia with Foligno.
It has the typical triangular structure of the slope fortification, crowned at the top by the high hexagonal sighting and defense tower.
There is no news of the foundation of Postignano and its first years of life, the original dedication of the church placed inside the walls at San Primiano, whose cult was widespread in Valnerina until the ninth century AD, suggests that the primitive settlement date back to this period, born then, like so many others in the Valnerina, guarding an obligatory passage of an ancient road of communication, and then fortified by defense against the incursions of Ungari and Saraceni.
