Photographer's Note

Lajen - Laion is a small village at the entrance of the Ghërdeina / Gardena / Gröden - valley. Its about 2500 inhabitants are mainly German speakers, other then the inhabitants inside the valley whos mother tongue is the local Ladin language (see here in Wikipedia). The village claims to be the birth place of the main German mediaeval poet Walther von der Vogelweide (c.1170 - c.1230) although there is no historical evidence. Nevertheless the main square of the province capital Bolzano - Bozen is named after the poet.

Some days ago I posted the view from the same point in the opposite direction, towards inside the valley.
