From a street going from Forum Romanum and also the Palatino height leading to the Colosseum - a 'stadium' that could host 50.000 spectactors already 2000 years ago.

Colosseum Flavian Amphitheater in Rome, erected c. AD 70 – 82 under the emperors Vespasian and Titus. The name Colosseum was applied some time after the 8th century because of its immense size and capacity, holding some 50,000 people. Unlike earlier amphitheaters, which were nearly all dug into hillsides for extra support, the Colosseum is a freestanding oval colonnaded structure of stone and concrete. It was the scene of combats between gladiators, contests of men with animals, and even mock naval engagements. The Colosseum was damaged by lightning and earthquakes in medieval times and, even more severely, by vandals. A restoration project was undertaken in the 1990s, and in 2000 the Colosseum staged a series of plays that marked the first time in more than 1,500 years that live performances had been held there.

Hi Jack, A brilliantly composed sepia photo of one of the most famous pieces of architecture in the world, you have cropped it perfectly, I love the little frame, great light & you have created the old look very well, kind regards Wilson.

Hi Jack
wonderful picture!
Sepia filter is very good...also frame is nice, you made a very good composition with an old atmosphere...very very well done!!

Bruce W.

Hello Jack,

What a beautiful shot of the Colosseum from the Roman Forum! It is sharp and crisp, and in the B&W/Sepia there is a timelessness created. The composition and perspective are flawless. I have seen carte-postals from a similar angle dated from the 1910 that has the same atmosphere. You have succeeded in miniminizing the view of masses of humanity, as it was in that old postcard. Warm regards, and it's wonderful to see you back on Trekearth.

Really impressive.

Bonsoir, Jack,
Voilà une photographie originale, nous avons l'impression de regarder une vieille photo sortie d'un tiroir d'une vieille commode, il y a un petit côté nostalgique très agréable.
Bravo pour l'intérêt et de la maîtrise photographique.
Amitiés.
Philippe

Hi Jack,
A fine POV on these world famous monuments, with the sepia conversion increasing the antique feel to it... perfect framing too and natural looking sharpness. Many shades in the sepia giving a pleasant image
Good job

Hello Jack

I like the warm, golden, colour tones, & superb juxtapositioning of the repetitve patterns of the vertical columns, against the curved arches of the Colloseum. Good sharpness, too. Tfs!

Hello Jack,

Le choix du virage sépia est excellent ! Il souligne encore plus l'antique grandeur de ce monument ! J'aime bien le fait que tu ais écarté presque toute présence moderne !
Excellent !

hi jack
if you tried to have an old effect , no doubt, you did it, i like the way how you framed it with columns and arena.

well done
cheers

Hello Jack, an excellent shot from an unusual angle. The sepia works well here and gives the image an 'old' look. The cars in the street in the extreme right hand corner are too small to really bother us.

Hi Jack,
Nice point of view of this mavellous coliseum !
I like the colors you choose in post-production...

Hello Jack,
Nice sepia processing that enhance the old picture style (having already old monuments!). I like the framing that combine the curve lines of colosseum to the straight ones of the monument foreground, at left.
Best regards
JMarc

Hi Jack. A nice perspective on this iconic and famous structure, with a good perspective effect resulting from the diagonal alignment of the foreground columns. The golden-sepia toning works quite well to enhance the presentation of this classic stadium, I think. Greetings from Tokyo.
