Photographer's Note

It was several months that I planned a night photographic safari in Rome and especially in the most famous place of the Christianity: St. Peter’s Square.
Looking at the weather forecast, I was very disappointed and for a moment I’ve considered to leave my tripod at home (traveling by plane with a tripod is considered as dangerous for the security as you were equipped with a machete…).
The strong difficult to make long exposures under the umbrella, trying to save my beloved DSLR and myself has been compensated by the pleasant reflections that the rain gives to the famous sanpietrini, the typical pavement of Rome.

Technical Notes
Three exposures stitched by PTGui, with a bit of Photoshop CS2 postprocessing to correct some imperfections of the automatic blending, that would have been visible in the large version. Last but not least, the recipe for this picture was… a good umbrella.
