Photographer’s Note
Another railway curio. The Aluksne Gulbene narrow gauge railway is the last remaining operating section of a much larger network in the region.
The railway was recently popularised on British television when ex-Python Palin included it in one of his TV travelogues. The southern end of the line shares a station with the Latvian national system, running Russian broad gauge tracks, and the little narrow gauge train seems completely out of place in front of the grand main building there.

Hi Richard,
an interesting place and presentation. Nice perspective, amazing train with the one wagon. Good link also. Fine reportage. I like it.

Hi Richard,
Narrow gauge train with tiny dimensions indeed look out of place in front of that grand station building. And just one passenger car. I'm sure it's an interesting line and wonder when they show that series in Finland.
A pity that underframe details disappear into darkness.
