Gutenberg Castle and St' Nicholas Parish Church in Balzers, Liechtenstein. Background mountains are on the Swiss side of the border.

From http://www.liechtenstein.li:
"Gutenberg Castle was first mentioned in writing in 1263; it was presumably built in the 11th century. It belonged to the barons of Frauenberg in 1305. It was transferred to the dukes of Austria in 1314 and remained in Austrian possession for more than 500 years. In 1750, it was left to decay. The municipality of Balzers bought the decaying castle with its property in 1824. In 1905, the sculptor Egon Rheinberger from Vaduz purchased the ruins and expanded the castle into its current form between 1906 and 1910 according to his own plans. For several years, a restaurant was run in the castle. Today, the castle belongs to the State. It has been restored in recent years, so that the interior and exterior spaces have been used since August 2000 for cultural and social event."

The title?
It's about pixel sized countries beginning with 'L', challenge of catching decent light within a limited time frame, and Star Wars: Episode V.

Hallo Kari!
A beautiful photo of these two buildings, seldom shown buildings. So often I came along at the highway and saw this castle but never there was the time to take a picture or visit it. You managed the difficult light here very well and I like the buildup of the photo. Thank you for showing and the note!
Greetings from Germany!
Frank

Terve Kari,
LOL at the title ;-)
Fine light you got despite the cloudy weather structures of both buildings stand out very well, and they seem nearly imbricated in the green area with no town in sight, nice. Oh, and I do not dislike at all the nice medieval atmosphere I can gather from the architecture...
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Kari,
This is a nicely composed shot balancing the church with the castle. The lighting and colors are great with nice sharpness and DOF. The mountain form a nice diagonal cutting through the frame.
TFS,
Asa

Hi Kari.

Excellent view with the two castles in the middle of "nowhere".

Well seen!

Moi du Québec quand je vois de telles splendeurs, je medis vive la retraite et go to Europe. Magique cette image avec la montagne d'arrièrre plan. Faut pas s'aimer pour ne pas aimer cette photo.. Merci du partage.. Réal.

Hi Kari,

Nice composition very well balanced. The "bad" weather in Swiss don't impaired the sharpness. Excellent POV, good colors and textures.

Have a nice week!
Leonor

Hello Kari,
Nice positioning of the church & castle. I see a "trojan" horse standing behind the castle wall. Nice forest & clouds. Regards. Latiff.

Very well chosen POV so there is no overlap between the 2 main buildings. The diagonal of the nearest mountain in the background is a sstrong feature of the composition. Maybe not the best light but you were able to include the low cloud in the background to add atmosphere.

Hi Kari,
Wonderful composition of the two buildings. Decent or not, I like this light, even if the colors aren't bright; I like the athmosphere given by this.
Regards,
F

Hi Kari,
I really laughed when I saw the title of this picture! ;o)
Those L-pixel countries may be small, be they seem to defend themselves very well, not offering decent light to photographers who visit them in hopes of adding that spot of yellow colour on their TE map.
Looks like you managed not too badly here amd the two buildings stands out well against the dark mountains in the back. Concgratulations for this well deserved pixel!
Regards, Brigitte

Hi Kari,
great composition of this little fairy tale country with its elemental church, castle and mountaintop.
Regards, Gerrit

Excellent POV here! Light management is outstanding.
