Photographer’s Note
Well, I guess only me and a few nutters will be interested in this one, but I think it's very much in the original TE spirit.
In what is now Lithuania, Latvia and Belaurus there was until quite recently an extensive narrow gauge railway network linking many rural communities. In Lithuania, the last section closed to regular traffic only 7 years ago, and the station at the centre of the network (Panavezys) retains an extensive infrastructure, with abandoned goods wagons and locos left around the intact complex of sidings.
This shot shows the narrow gauge station alongside the still extant broadgauge main station, with a set of fright wagons bound for Russia, waiting for transit.
I must say it, with the snow just begining to fall this morning, it seemed like a pretty desolate place.

Well chosen point of view from above railway tracks.
One thing I don't like here is colors. There is quite strong red/pink color cast, which is very clearly visible near horizon. I think some color corrections could be useful here.

Hello Richard,
A great journalistic viewpoint to be really suitable to TE's mission. I didn't know that the narrow gauge exists in Lithuania, i thought it has only 1524mm gauge.
In Japan, the rail cargo freight EMU (Electric multiple unit) is operated on 1067mm gauge.

Hello Richard,
I like this one - so I must be a nutter!
Your point of view here is excellent and gives the photo a perfect perspective.
I think that the railway lines 'on grass' really adds to the charm of this shot, as does the 'emptiness'.
Interesting note. Definitiely a TE shot.
Best regards,
Andrew

Hi Richard,
Emptyness goes well with typical weather for this time of year. Besides that I obviously belong to the target group, I like the strong perspective on this too. Narrow rails leading to horizon looks effective from this high viewpoint. Heavier tracks and wagons on the right give a good reference for comparision.
