Photographer’s Note
So, I'm back home, with a few more to post from my latest trip.
I spent last week in a health spa in Druskininkai, mainly because it's the kind of thing my family likes, but a good way to relax after a hard year.
Druskininkai is a spa town in the south of the country (about 10km from the Belarus border), and the services are top quality in every respect, including very luxurious accommodation. My wife finds the whole experience much better than in any spa in the UK, and, even after paying for travel, a fraction of the cost.
I rather liked the contrast here between the clearing of the snow early in the morning, and the fairylit chair sculpture that stand by the hotel entrance.

Nice shot with good lighting on chair.
An unusal angle but giving nice results. I also the snow cleaner doing his job.
The color of the snow as light-blue is very cool.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Richard,
Very nice picture ! Light and snow gives a nice sensation, and this special point of view and the "empty" spaces on the right is very very interesting and great !
Congratulations !

Fantastic minimalist shot Richard - I just love the sparse elements of colour and it also seems quite an amusing image with this isolated sleigh of lights.
Very nice! Sounds like you had a nice bit of pampering there!!
all the best Kev

Hi Richard,
This picture taken of a very high building or a high mountain. Perfect view with the chair in middle through the lovely enlightenment. Good contrast between the white snow and yellow colours of the chair.
My best wishes for a happy and healthy year 2006.
Best regards,
John.

hi richard,
heard a lot about druskienniki (you must have met some poles relaxing there, i am sure, the place is pretty popular);
as kev says - great minimalism, just the simplicity that works so well; excellent light;
all the best to you and yours for christmas time;

Hi Richard, It is tough job, someone has to do it. Solute to the hard working guy working in the cold. A well composed picture. Good PoV and nice shot.
Happy Holidays.

Cool shot, Richard with a very original composition. I like the use of the negative space on the right. The lit chair add a warmth to the overall cold scene.

Hi Richard, nice and exciting lines in the picture, nice colors, the warm yellow/reddish of the lights and the cold blue. Besides there’s a nice line of footsteps from the bottom right corner, which even look like tracks, staying parallel to one another. The red shovel is very nice as well, nice coloured element in the picture
Merry Christmas to you and your family, Richard!

Creative shot with good use of the sparse setting of details. Interesting mood and use of the faded light. Good work r.

Wonderful, graphic shot, Richard. A beautiful choice for Christmas, not with an overpowering Santa Claus looming somewhere but with such a visual haiku, very lovely, understated, powerful shot!
And thank you for the good advice on spa in Lithuania.
