Photographer’s Note
This may look just like any old commuter train, but in a Lithuanian context it's quite significant. These high(ish) speed double deckers represent the first new passenger rolling sock on Lithuanian railways since independance in 1991, and make a huge difference to the travelling experience between the country's two main cities of Kaunas and Vilnius. Track improvements in recent years have reduced the timing of the route by half to now just under 1 hour, and with comfortable first class compartments rail travel is at less sensible ooption for in Lithuania, at least on this route. I wonder when it will be possible to catch the train to Riga again, without an overnight stop in Daugavpils!

Hallo Richard!
A "dynamic" photo accompanied by an interesting note! The winterly atmosphere is transmitted here very well.
Greetings from almost springlike (today!) Germany!

Hi Richard
Nice to see you back, it's been a while
The snow is a bit overexposed but for having experienced the old era trains I can understand what a step forward this is. can't understand though you do not like Daugavpils night life... ;-)
Have a nice day JY

Hi Richard,
Good angle showing that modern train coming through a curve. Sounds like a long waited improvement. Weather is rather depressing, but it looks better with some little snow.
