Every now and then we all have our own "WOW!!!"
I remember my first "wow" when I was a 5 years old boy and had an afternoon nap and after wake-up I found a brand new bicycle, the one for the kids, you know - the one with two extra side wheels... It was also red...
How about you? What way your first "wow!" ?

(Thank you all who wrote a critique by my previous post! Love you all! )

Well, I had a WOW when I saw your photo. I also said RED!

I'm afraid I can't remember my first WOW. I'm terrible with these childhood memories.

But starting to think of it, most of my most recent WOW's were in front of the computer screen, browsing a certain site called trekearth.com.

Congratulations! I really like this pic and your note.

My first WOW?
Well, I think it is it was on a December night 44 years ago! :))))))))))))
Now Jerzy. I'm happy to read that you still love me!!!
That is RED, isn't it? Shiny, sparkling, jumping all over, kind of RED.
The title? Perfectly chosen!
I hear a WOW inside of me. I say it loudly and my room is filled with Joy and RED are all over the place!
Do I need to tell you that I love this beauty?
I hate to write those words, but I think I can be honest with you! :)))))

A bold composition here Jerzy, and I think it's worked, well almost. Why almost? I just think this would have been even better the base of that tree at the top of the frame.
Also, while I like how the colour of the clothing of the second child mirrors that of the car, I think this would have worked better without anyone in the background.
That's all just wishful thinking though; a complete waste of time. If you messed around trying to find a higher viewpoint so that you could have excluded the tree, or waited until the second child was out of the frame, you would have missed this great little moment. The expression on the child's face is what makes the shot, and I bet it was only there for a second or two.
Finally, and most obviously, that huge area of red gives this huge impact; any other colour and the image wouldn't have worked nearly as well.
After taking more time to look, I've revised my first comment. I think this shot HAS been a success.
Great stuff Jerzy.

Cheers,
Ben

Mmm, interesting thought to start a new year. It was also probably a car, maybe the Rolls that a distant cousin hired for a wedding when I was four.

Anyway, the red works well here, I suppose it was luck to get the child in red behind the one looking at the car. I thnk I recognise that cobbly pattern, from around the town hall square.

Happy new year.

Nice one. The kid's placed in the right spot, too bad there's another child right behind her, which is somewhat distracting.

Sliczny Wow, mamochod, jak mowila moja siostra.
To chyba ten sam, co ze zdjecia z babinka ?

Piekne zdjecie, dzieciaczek wpatrujacy sie w te czerwona, blyszczaca powierzchnie.

Ja pierwszego wowa nigdy nie mialam, poniewaz sie nigdy nie nauczylam prowadzic, ha, ha, ha. A tatusia wow to byla niebieska syrenka.
PZDR. Grazyna.

more neat than yesterday indeed ; ) Both are good IMHO but maybe to much red on this one, no? : D
Yes maybe to much with this boy on the foreground, a bit disturbing for me.
Anyway, the message is there and I can't answer you question. No memories about this first "wow".
About the red again, I love it : )

Ah! Now I discovered that you love me as well. So we are even! ;) My first wow...? Well, let me think. I am still battling between the Lima train model I received when I was 8 or 9 or the English teacher in the 7th grade 3 years later... You know the English language is so universal... Probably it was that. I guess my face had the same amount of red in those classes as this picture of yours has. Cool shot!

Hi Jerzy,
What a wonderful shot and composition!
The deep red,the little boy looking at..
But the point is the great winner, with you
of course!
My best wishes for the 2007!More creative!

Wyraze swoje 'wow' dla tej kompozycji, wielkie to auto, zajmuje tyle kadru, że aż strach. Mimo to jednak jest jakos tak 'ok'. Troszkę niepotrzebna ta druga osoba w czerwonym, byloby nieco czysciej w kadrze.
Super.
Seb

As usual Jerzy,
it's not the first impression with your shot that is important, more the reading of it. I wonder what is going through her mind? You have made the car seem immense as surely the girl would think also. Great work. Oh, and if you do'nt mind me asking, bantonbuju, what does that stand for?
Regards,
Mark

A great image J and deserving of the biggest smile but for the kid crossing over in the background........fantastic idea...perhaps my view is harsh...but i just see beyond the fantastic spirit of the image that there is a better image for me here without the second child...actually the more i lookm the less bothersome the second child is friom the firsty impression...the more one reads into adjusts to the image but i still think that first impression counts........I could change my mind more easily now though......

...first remembered WOW......I suppose the first big one...really big one ....was the Vulcan jet bomber based just down the road on the airfield that both of my parents worked at....it was there as a test bed for the work on developing the Concorde...this V bomber created some noise and excitement!!!

Its downdraft came very close to knocking me off a railway bridge I was sat on as it made a low pass over the aerodrome.....

best wishes Kev

This Wikipedia entry actually mentions its test bed role...

Hi Jerzy!
I like a lot of red here. Not just car.Girls toy in hand and red kid in background...
Sharpness,colors,DOF...+++.
Wish you Happy new year!
Regards!

Reds...burning my eyes
Reds...stolen color for 'them'...
Reds...the greatest passion, the 'sure shot', love, blood, lust, red dwarf and the big bang...
Never too much, never enough...hatred & desire...
The BIG WOW...
-----------------------
My first big WOW...?
Don't know the colors...
It was dark. The courtains were closed, the lights were off...But I remember it well..
---------------------

Jerzy: great mask with the overwhelming reds here. Your shot is nicely off-centered and tack sharp. Fine work. regards, c

Hi Jerzy,

You are right, I remember when a received a wooden scooter and I was 4, I had four uncles and the one who offered it to me always remained my favorite one.
I like the big contrast between the little girl and the Big Red Car. If I were you I would probably try to remove the secong girl with PS, and I am almost sure that the picture would be twice as good then.
I could try a WS if you wish.

Bets wishes - Izzet

Well to get this f stop and a steady shot.. firm arm :)
I Like it wow...

A great red catch, Jerzy! Indeed a WOW moment, the little girl is in absolute adoration of the slick car while the other girl, dressed also in red, couldn't bother; that contrast between the two children emphasizes to me even more the specialness of this moment in time. The red is just orgiastic, so powerful in its saturation and shine!
As to me, perhaps one of the first WOWs was being able to cuddle a real lion baby one day when my father took me to the zoo. I just stood there and the guards allowed any child who volunteered to hold the little lion; I didn't waste a minute! It was indeed wow...soft and cuddly.
Take care Jerzy and have a soft, cuddly, colourful new year!
