Photographer’s Note
This is not Croatia, not the Mediterranean. This is Lake Ohrid in Macedonia and the city of Ohrid, both classified by the UNESCO as a world heritage.
The large Lake Ohrid is shared by Macedonia and Albania. The city of Ohrid traces its history back to he 4th century B.C. and later became an important trade centre in the Byzantine empire. In the 9th century A.D. the first Slavic university was established here. The area was taken by the Ottoman empire in late 14th century.
Today Ohrid has become the most important tourist attraction in Macedonia. There are several famous Byzantine churches in the picturesque old town overlooking the scenic lake.

Hallo Gert!
Here the diagonal between this very special lake and the red roofs is stunning - as the colours of your photo are. A really wonderful sight - especially on a day likt this one: Cold, rain, fog ...
Greetings from autumnal Germany!

I love the extreme high POV making us look directly down onto the rooftops. The boats bobbing on the lake are also a great feature of the scene. Excellent light and colours.

Hej Gert,
The most striking feature of this picture is, apart from the strong colours, the very obvious diagonal orientation of roofs, boats and shore! But the colours here are just marvellous. This must be on my favorite list!

Hi Gerrt, I have heard that Lake Ohrid is a beauty but I haven't been there. These red roofs comtrast wonderful with the deep blue of the lake. Even two persons are hidden. Nice picture.

Hej Gert,
the photo looks very original + first of all due to the point of view, of course... This is a picturesque view with a smart inclusion of the bright reddish "geometrical" roofs in the FG which are in such a contrast with the bright blue water!
Nice lovely and lively view: a stripe of greenery and the boats on the surface of the water... :)
One of the best and most original compositions I've seen!

Hello Gert
This photo does not look like a typical 'Holmertz' composition - but it is stunning in a different way. The colours are brilliant and the mixture of diagonal rooflines make an interesting pattern. The water is so clear and inviting. Tfs, Marlene

Hej Gert,
I was surprised when I read your note because this impression looked so typical for Croatia! Very beautiful colors like those of the Mediterranian that are harmoniously contrasting. The perspective is excellent. Congratulation!
Warm regards

Hello Gert
One of your few pictures posted here, without a dominant human presence...but that was not the reason why I chose it..got attracted because of the colours and their contrast...the red tiles, the deep blue sea and a thin belt of green. Light is good and your high POV certainly is a clincher here. Good work!

Bonjour Gert.
Cette photo est bien composée avec un premier plan formé par les toits (beau graphisme et belles couleurs) et, au dessus, l'eau si bleue qui porte les petits bateaux.
Beau travail !
Jacques
