Photographer’s Note

Tiraspol, Transnistria.Many people here still can not not afford new watches or just want to hold on to old ones, repairing them gives job to many such specialists. Separatist part of Moldova supported by Russian army present here in large numbers. The province still has a feel of deep communism, with Lenin statues and grim buildings along streets with names like Lenin or Marks, and despite of strongest concentration of industry there is a lot of unemployment and general poverty.

Tiraspol, Naddniestrze. Wielu ludzi tutaj wciąż nie stać na nowe tanie zegarki, lub też wolą zachować stare i je naprawiać u licznych zegarmistrzów. Mimo koncentracji przemysłu, panuje tu bezrobocie i bieda. Separatystyczna republika wyodrębniona z Mołdawii, broniona przez rosyjską armię licznie tutaj obecną. W całej prowincji wciąż popularny jest komunizm, ulice imienia Marksa czy Lenina pełne są ich pomników czy wielkich ponurych gmachów z minionej epoki. Pominik Lenina stoi też przez pałacem marionetkowego prezydenta kraju.

no tak, czytałęm co nieco o tej enklawie nie wiadomo w sumie czego,
dobre to zdjęcie, stonowane (jak na ciebie) ale chyba wiernie oddające "starość" tego miejsca (czy raczej "zacofanie")

Beautiful documentary shot, Swiatek. I don't think anyone can come close to you for handling shadows, I mean deep, dark shadows :o) Left side of the frame is BLACK, and it'S totally natural. Beautiful light and tones where it counts.
Subtle, revealing work.

Prawdziwa zazdrosc powoduje we mnie zawsze tak bliskie podejscie do "obiektu". Zwlaszcza obiektu "ruchomego" :-)Niezwykla intymnosc sytuacji warunkowana jest zgoda, zaufaniem i "wspolpraca" bohatera.. To wszystko sie swietnie udalo i wyszedl wspanialy kadr z filmu o wyzszosci upadajacego rzemiosla nad seryjna produkcja.. Bardzo ladne!

Hi Swiatek.
Good photo where the light becomes almost the most important element of the composition. The man working is enhaced by this light against the dark background.
Also nice all the details of the photo.

Hi Swiatek, You are the master of light and shadow and there is few - if any - people beating you here on TE. This is so well done, simply beautiful. The concentration of the man, the light shining on the essential and the darker bits still so well detailed. It puts a great mood to the whole scene that has a movie like feel to it, telling a story and evoking curiosity and interest. Sabine
