Photographer’s Note

Guards at the residence of the president of Montenegro in Cetinje. I had to look carefully to realize they were not wax dolls.
Cetinje was the capital of independent Montenegro 1878–1918 and is the country's cultural and spiritual centre. It's a small town with a lot of fine architecture from the decades around the last turn of the century. There are also a number of interesting museums.
The residence of the president was moved to Cetinje from the modern capital of Podgorica in 2005.

Hej Gert,
as I can see you took this photo so that the red and yellow flar (on the right) would be included in the picture. I think I would do the same: the flag and the uniforms of these two "toy" soldiers. I know what you mean by mentioning "wax dolls": such "wax dolls" guarded the Lenin Mausoleum not too long ago.

Interesting composition and funny juxtaposition: the guards and the dark statues on each side!
It's nice to see Nature reflected in the window glasses... It kinda enlivens the image... and the building!

Especially there way to hold their hands gives a rare expression,like dogs that where told to sitt beautiful to get dog candys.

Hej Gert,
Funny posture, must be a regulated one. I can´t remember anything like this in the Swedish army, absolutely forbidden to hook your thumbs in the belt like this! I think a tougher cropping might be an improvment, see my WS!

Blue-greyish background of the building, the red uniforms and the flag, no symmetry,...

Hi Gert - Yes, I saw these two, they were still there when I visited... You managed a superb compo with the partial inclusion of the flag on the right side, I like this idea... regards, Daniel
