Photographer’s Note

I'll come back to the town of Kotor some day, today I'm posting a photo taken at a village located half an hour's drive from it.

Perast, for this is the name of the place, is so small you could walk from its one end to the other in 10 minutes. Some 300 inhabitants, one street, a few churches, and lots and lots of peace and quiet. I read in my guidebook about young pub owners, who were hoping that some day tourists would discover the unique atmosphere of the village, hoping it would become one of the most important attractions of Boka Kotorska.I'm afraid it's unavoidable. Only then, how much of its relaxing, cosy atmosphere will remain?

What you can see in the background, is St.George's Island, one of the two tiny islands opposite Perast. You can take a boat there to see the ruins of an old Benedictine Monastery, but, once you find a spot for yourself in the village, you won't really feel like going anywhere else.Besides, some things are better left unseen, so that imagination could still paint its own images, so that these images could remain your destinations for an undefined future.

I like this shot. The atmosphere is very peaceful and I like the soft warm colours produced by that great light (morning or evening?).

Hi Alexandra, this is a great picture there ! I don't know if that was taken at the start of the day or at the end but the result is a great picture with a particular mood. Very sharp, yes i love it :)

slicznie skadroane zdjecie. Romantyczne na maksa...brakuje moze jakiejs osoby ale to taki detal. Dobvra GO. Ale najlepsze w tym wszustkim to to swiatlo padajace na ta wysepke.

Magnifique cette lumière chaude, quel effet.
C'est joliment composé avec cette barque sur l'avant, cette petite ile dans le fond et ce haut formé par les montagnes.
Un bel endroit que tu as joliment mis en valeur.

I've always found that the simplest compositions are the most powerful and pleasing - and this proves the point. Nice use of the near/far dynamic to give this a sense of depth and direction, allowing the eye to move from front to back. Great reflections too - wonderful shot!

czesc, zdjecie w dobrym "starbugowym" stylu :) .
Lodka na pierwszm planie najciekawszym motywem nie jest, ale w takiej kompozycji wyglada prawie jak trojmasztowiec. Bomba. I do tego kolory cudo. Swietna praca

This shot is full of depth and atmosphere. The vertical framing empahsises the distance between the foreground and background and I really like the misty effects into the distance.
