Photographers Note
After dark and moody photographs, now it is time to go on with the lovely Adriatic coastline. This time it is not from Dubrovnik, it is from Montenegro where we had a very short daily tour.
Sveti Stefan is a seaside resort in western Montenegro, located 5 km southeast of Budva. It was used to be a tidal island, but is now permanently connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus. In the 15th century the island was a fishermen's village. In the 1950s the last residents of the village were evicted, and Sveti Stefan was transformed into a luxury town-hotel. The streets, walls, roofs and façades of the buildings were, for the most part, preserved, while the interior of the building were transformed to offer the most modern luxury hotel comfort. It remained the most exclusive resort on the Montenegro's coast until the 1990's, when it fell into decline during the breakup of the former Yugoslav federation.
After that time, there have been some projects about re-constructing of the Island, but due to political and financial events of the time the projects failed. Now, although it is closed, the beaches north and south of the island are open to the public.

HJello Burcu,
A fine well composed summer view with a wonderful play of red roofs and greenery on the island which seerms quite peacefully compared to the crowd of beach goers at its entrance.
regards,
Paul

Hello Burcu! How sad that the project failed so far, it is such a spectacular sight, it has to be protected. One day it will but I guess there are other priorities but TE helps to make us aware what a pearl this place is and the more it is visited the more money flows back to finally protect this island village. Very nice "postcard" from a place I did not know before. Thanks for showing, thanks for bringing this up. Have a great night, Barbara.

Tebrikler.

Merhaba Burcu,
This is a lovely panoramic shot of St. Stefan in Montenegro, showing the land bridge connecting the mainland to the tiny fortified island.
Although I've visited Croatia many times, I've never been to Montenegro. I do remember well the early Sean Connery film "From Russia with Love," with James Bond and the diabolical Specter weaving their web and connecting Istanbul, Montenegro, Venice among other places.
Warm regards,
Bulent Atalay

Hello Burcu,
This is a beautiful picture, with very nice colors.
The island is a little bit cut on the left and on the right : you should have tried to stitch two picture to have some sea on both sides of the island.

Yes, I guess it's from the same POV! I also took one similar to this one, maybe I'll post it too. For it's interesting to see how the view slightly changes depending on the time of the day, direction of the light and the occasional cloud. It looks that Montenegro has been very popular with TE members this summer...

Hi Burcu,
A very nice image, full of beautiful colours.
A stitch of two images would have shown the island entirely. I like how you framed the horizon, nearly at the top of the photo in a very straight line.
Regards,
Marianne

Dear Burcu
A very beautiful shot of Montenegro, looking great and your note is informative as well. Your light and color management is as fine as the great sharpness. In particular I like the boats at he right and the beach life at the left. Well seen and composed. Well done
Best regards
Urs

Merhaba Burcu
I have seen this image several times in the last days... the pov is great and the place awesome, lucky you who has been there. One point though you should keep in mind is the timing, you have been there at the worst time of the day when the hard summer sun washes away the colors and this has a negative impact on your image. Check out Daniel's image to see what you could have achieved coming at the right time:
