Horn Castle is partly a medieval castle. In later centuries it has been rebuilt and additions were made.

Still it is a very solid and imposing building as it is situated near to an old arm of the river Maas. This river nowadays flows some 3 kilometers to the east of the castle.
In fact you can see the old Maas arm in the front. The water is now called "Kouk".

The photo was taken as a major reconstrution of the surrounding parc was in its final stage.

Hallo Jan!
You show us a beautiful scenery and a somehow homey castle. It seems to be a calm place in wonderful suroundings. The spring light really is different from the autumn light at the time.

Hallo Jan,

U pakt uit met een vroeg voorjaar beeld, waarvan de kleuren iederjaar zo gezellig overkomen na een lange winter.
Hier doet zich het zelfde voor, licht groene kleuren van de jonge bladeren, de stroming van de ijskoude rivier, en het statige huis als voltreffer midden van het beeld.
Wel mooi gedaan, goed naar voor gebracht. Bedankt.

I quite like the composition here, the strong lines of the river work well to lead the eye through the shot, and the branch on the right adds good depth. the colours are nice and fresh, but I feel the photo is a little soft, some sharpening might improve that.
