Last Sunday was a stormy day. Dark clouds altered by bright sunshine. Despite the unstable and cold weather many people enjoyed taking a walk at the beach.
Katwijk aan Zee is a village (exepting the often stormy wind) near Den Haag and Leiden. It is a quiet village with some old houses and no big hotels at the sea-side.
There used to be the mouth of the river rhine here.
Today still the Oude Rijn enters the sea in the north of Katwijk, separated from it with a huge barrier, as much of the land behind Katwijk is below sea level.
Beautiful dune landscape surrounds this spaceous village.
On the picture the beach boulevard is seen. In the background the old church of Katwijk.
