[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
my trip to amsterdam was a memorable one. it was a weekend visit, but i spent a lot of time in the streets and on the canals.

the canals were, to me, the most amazing thing in the world. i'd never seen people living on the water before. not like this ... but even more amazing were the buildings. i couldn't get used to the fact that the buildings were jammed together, leaning against each other and, well, just leaning!

amsterdam is famous for its red light district, its marijuana cafes, drug sellers on the streets, peep shows and everything illicit ... but what i loved most were the buildings. every building was different and i had no idea how they were still standing.

sadly, i lost about 200 photos of amsterdam on a faulty back up cd. so this is one of the few photographs i recovered. so i'm sorry for the lack of quality.

Hey David,
Great Amsterdam photo. Very typical.
Missing a blue sky. Not typical there.

Hi David,
This is a great shot! The color contrast and the pov is great. Well done!
Regards, Ramy.

Beautiful, charming, great colors, captivating photo, and the note's utmost informative.
What else possibly, one's heart can desire.
Man o'man!
Two thumbs up.

George

Sorry to learn about your loss.
If it can be any consolation for you - many of us have the same horror stories up our sleeves. Let's hope the photos you're able to recover will somehow compensate the lost ones.
All the best David. Keep that shutter hot.

David, two things: the frame is too heavy, a thin line would lighten the image a lot. The composition is great, but the lack of color on the sky dulls the entire image, BW perhaps? Overall, I like the image. See you around!

Hi David
I guess you have the wrong country....Nice picture of our capitol where there are so many strange houses and places like this. Well seen and captured.
greetings Albrecht

i agree that the borders are too thick. i see what you're trying to do, but i'm not sure it works. as for the photo, how bendy is that middle house? that's strange.. at least you got one amsterdam photo tho :)

Geez that's weird!! I've been in Amsterdam 2 years ago in winter and found there was a "strange atmosphere", much enjoyable, in this city. I was astonished yet by the width of the building which I was told has something to do with taxes. I didn't see this one. Sure if I did, I would have capture it too ;o)
On the technical part, I regret the totally white sky where there is no cloud detail (I guess you couldn't do anything about it), all the more as you added a thick white frame.
Anyway, TFS!

Cheers,
Pris.
