A detail of the Wilson and Bolles designed new Luxor theater in Rotterdam: the parking deck and the glass façade of the Rijnhaven (Rhine harbour) foyer. The metal structures on the façade can be used for maintenance. Looking up through them, you see a dazzling vertigo-inducing pattern.
The new Luxor is situated on the Wilhelminapier, the economic center of the Kop van Zuid. The Kop van Zuid is a massive urban restructuring project in progress which is well underway in converting the old harbour area on the South bank of the Maas (with its defunct ports, warehouses and railway heads) into a integrated living , shopping and commercial service quarter. It’s comparable with the Docklands in London and the waterfront re-developments in Barcelona and New York.

Nice capture of these bold architectural forms. The lage scale of the big bright steel girders at the bottom make an intersting contrast with the more delicate glass facade and sun screening and the wimsy handrail (a very Peter Wilsonesque touch). The orange/blue combination is works great as the "foundation" for the whole image. Very good, very fresh, I wish I did notice this one earlier.

I'm very intrigued by the steel framings and the bold angle of this shot. The irregular shape of the sky for constrast is a ncie touch.
Good Compostion!
Very nice one, Bert! The reds and blues go very well together. Now that I look more closely at the picture, I also see a tad of white between the red substructure and the blue sky. It makes me think of the Dutch "blue-white-red" national flag. I suppose the "orange" we see is actually the same red as slightly above, but this time with the sun making it much brighter. So you Dutch flag is complemented by a hint of orange! How much better does it get?
I like the graphic imapct of this shot made all the better by the pure blue sky. Compostion just right.
Regards Colin
