This is the interior of the Knights Hall in the heart of The Hague.
The Hague is the administrative center of The Netherlands.
The Knights Hall is situated in the middle of the governemental quarter in the city. This hall was originally built in the 13th century. Is was used in many ways during almost 700 years of history.

Around 1900 the hall was redesigned and restaured by the famous architect Cuijpers. Since that time the hall is in use for state occasions.

The most important of them: State opening of parliament, every year on the third tuesday in september.
Queen Beatrix rides in the Gilded Carriage to the Knights Hall where both chambers of parliament and the government have assembled. Sitting on the throne Her majesty reads the Throne Speech, written by the prime minister and containing govenemental plans for the next year.
