Photographer’s Note
The oldest tracks go back to the 10th century. Zierikzee started as an empty space near a creak
called the `Ee`. Farmers and fishermen build some houses. Zierikzee, on the southside of the island, was a safe place for big storms and floods. The creak the `Ee` was connected with in that time, an important sea intersection between Holland and Vlaanderen (Belgium) called the `Gouwe´.
On the east was Antwerp and it was situated between the islands Schouwen and Duiveland. There is a story about how Zierikzee got it´s name. One of the first commanders of Zierikzee must have been a certain `Zierik´, so the `Ee was from Zierik`.
Out of that came the name Zierikzee....

Onmiskenbaar Hans.
Mooie plaat van ons Zierikseee. In dialect gesproken.Goede kleuren en eigenlijk een goede foto, waar ze enkel nog maar `groeten uit´, op hoeven te zetten. Goed werk

Being as fond of color as I am, this photo is a great joy for me to look at. Good shooting angle that fills the frame with these fine buildings; the left one really excels in textures and details to explore. Your well-written note completes this interesting historical package from Zeeland. Well done, Hans.

A special architecture and I can image that the owner of this house must have been something special - thanks Hans for taking us here - a place to visit some day.
