[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
This is one of the two windmills featured on one of my latest shots, Double Dutch at Sunset.
Notable differences : a mid-afternoon shot, obviously taken under completely different light conditions, and a partial view of the Kalverpolder (polder = any area of low-lying land in the Netherlands, that has been reclaimed from a body of water and is protected by dikes).
The Kalverpolder lies north of the new neighborhood The Kalf in Zaandam, and is part of the Oostzaanpolder.
The hamlet of Haaldersbroek, the Zaanse Schans, the windmills along the Kalverringdijk, windmill The Hercules and The Braaksloot are all specific to the Kalverpolder.
Following land-reclaiming to build the Wijde Wormer and the Enge Wormer polders nearby, respectively in 1622 and 1634, two important polder drainage pools disappeared, as a result of which the Kalverpolder experienced major drainage problems.
As a consequence the whole area became inaccessible. Later on dykes were built. On the west side of the polder, along the Zaan River, lots of windmills rose during the Spanish War (the so-called 80 Year War).
In the 18th century the tide turned in favour of an agrarian character. The industrial windmills retreated from along the banks of the Zaan and the current characteristic image of land parcels took shape.
Forest Management (Staatsbosbeheer) owns a sizeable amount of land in the Kalverpolder.

Thats a fabulous composition with wonderful crispness and colours. I like the imapct and the way you have compsoed this one with a lovely perspective

Ciao Fulvio,
Bravo.
Saluti,
Costantino

Beautiful shot Fulvio, the placement of the windmill is great and i like how it stands out perfectly against the sky. I see yellow follies at the lower right, it might be a very promising foreground for this beautiful subject. Nice shot, very nice.

Olá Fluvio,

I like this composition, where the windmill is accurately placed in the frame!
Wonderful colours , fine details to go with them...

Greetings,
Filipe

Hi fulvio,
When can I come and see and photograph these amazing dutch windmills? Are you going to be home next week? (only kidding), but wow, I just love these views and would love to be there in person. Your images are always creative and here again, the composition, the colors, the overall clarity and sharpness are excellent. Very well done and TFS. Gerald

Hallo Fulvio,
Groet, Henk

Hello Fulvio.
I like this windmill shot a lot, and I'm glad you did not try to make it look like a painting. You composed it very nicely to create good depth, and the colours are so natural without too much saturation or contrast. The sky has been produced perfectly, I think. I like very much the yellow flowers you included in the bottom right corner, and the human figure gives a good idea of the scale. Very well done. Now I will have to look at the double Dutch photo.
Regards,
Andrew

Beautiful picture, composition and colours are great!
Best regards,

Ciao, Fulvio,
I like your windmill sequel where you've dealt with colours in most artful way.
The sky is also a good complement to the shot.
So, rains are frequent visitors maybe:)
TFS
Valerka:)

Nice one buddy, more of that great warm light low angle sun. I also like thaat the sails are on the blades of the mill, most often they are only the framework. Colors and detail are superb as usual, great capture.

Greg

Think you did as much with the crop, especially the lower right corner, as could be done to make this composition. I like it... it adds nice visual interest.

Hi my friend,

you are probaly the best Holland windmills photographer in here. I never get full of them, when you use your particular way for saturation and light treatment. I wonder how you get this nice effect...something from your deepest feeling. Great job indeed!
Regards,
Carlos
PS: still with that day-after headache :))

Ciao my dearest buddy,

Hi Fulvio,
You got a beautiful summer sky for the perfect backdrop to this lovely symbol of low land Holland. The lighting is also perfect rending nice gentle shadows on the windmill who's orange and white blades contrast wonderfully with the lovely sky.
PS I live in Rotterdam which is about 10 miles east of Amsterdam, New York that is.

PS Stirling Moss e Coppi purtroppo me li ricordo bene anch'io, ne è passato di tempo...

Ciao Fulvio,
ottima luce e colori stupendi
Giorgio

Hi Fulvio,
Mooi werk, bedankt!
Groeten,
Lars

Hi, Fulvio -

One of the most interesting things in the shot, for me, is the sense of motion in the sky - the way the clouds are arranged gives me the impression that the wind is blowing hard.

Other than that.... ;-)

The placing of the main objects (including the flowers) on the right side should feel imbalanced, but somehow it doesn't. You've also handled the strong afternoon light well, using it to bring out the colors in the windmill. Now, there is a small B&W object on the bottom left that I don't understand (you see,I had to find some nit to pick).

Best,
Dan

Superb colors!! Very nice depth...an all around fantastic picture! TFS and have a great Sunday!

Beste Fulvio,

John.

hi Fulvio,
the sky is great, I wouldn't expect anything less from you, even in what looks like a pretty harsh light. love the random yellow branch in the lower right corner, I think it's a great detail and goes well with the overall relaxed mood of the scene. nice one :)

regards,
Kristine

Hello Fulvio,

I knew about your other post. I like them both, but with a single focal point, this is a little better composed. The presence of the clouds — the Dutch sky in the manner painted by the the great painters of the Golden Age of Holland — is extremely effective. Also very good note. Warm regards from Virginia,

Bulent

Ciao Fulvio,

Buona serata
Günther
