[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Last week thursday, around 7.00 PM., Zaanse Schans...
That's to say : traditional green painted houses, warehouses, farms and windmills, and the distinct feeling of stepping back into the 17th and 18th century.
However, this is not an open air museum but a colourful living and working neighborhood.
This hamlet has not always existed, though. Most of the buildings were relocated from other areas in the Zaanstreek during the 1960’s and 70’s, as due to urban development they were under threat of obliteration.
Unfortunately I got no further info about this specific farm, there are no markers and nobody seems to know anything about it... Long Live Culture!
The building serves now as training school for the Forest Management, or something like that.
According to my limited architectural knowledge I would say it dates back from around 1780 or so. The standing chimney in the middle of the field is a... chimney, indeed. Beats me what's it's doing out there.
Judging from shape and bricks it's pretty old. I guess it's all they could save when tearing down some other ancient building in the area.
It looks like they turned it into a sort of oven by removing a sizeable chunk of bricks upfront, possibly to barbecue...

ciao

Ciao Fulvio!
That's a very beautiful colorful photograph!
TFS - Congratulations!
Greetings from Brazil,
Neyvan Peçanhuk

very flashy and surprising green ! fine exposure and strong brightness

Ciao Fulvio,

colorful photo as usual an interesting note. Nice to know they try to keep the old buldings like new in Holland. I cannot say the same about Curitiba, where you see some centenary architectures with a post-war looking. You did a great job on the capture and post-processing, managing the exposure on the sky to balance the light and making the house to pop up in the frame. Very well done!
Have a nice wednesday my friend,
Carlos

Hello Fluvio! You have beautiful farm houses in your country and so bright and friendly in color, and I just wanted to write why on earth the oven was still standing on the grass when I read your note. I actually thought that this was pretty funny. This outside version does not help much to heat the house I am afraid but at least you can warm yourself up in front of the fire, run into the house and go to bed. But most probably your version works ... you made my afternoon, all so funny. And no, my pc is not fixed yet but hopefully the whole thing works before christmas ... just kidding ... Have a nice afternoon, Barbara.

Hallo fulvio,

Hi, Fulvio -

At first I thought the outdoor chimney was some kind of charcoal kiln (such as I've seen in Africa), but it doesn't look right. I'd have to see it close up to make a better guess, I guess.

I like the way you've positioned the house and the fence - and the path - all as strong diagonals pointing to an area left of center, which isn't particularly strong itself, but which benefits from all that attention directed at it.

Best,
Dan

bongiorno, DON! :))

hey. LIGHT and COLOR delivered again. loud and punchy, my friend! i'm surprised the shadows are so short at 7PM though. but never mind that - a lovely addition to Don's collection.

with compliments
kristaps

Ciao Fulvio,
ben fatto
Giorgio

Fabulous colors! So cheerful and bright. I like that you say these buildings are relocated, and looking very well maintained. In Canada (this land of WASTE) buildings are torn down so quickly. Then others, like the barns I show, are just left to rot away. Another very pretty picture from you. TFS

Hi Fulvio,
Another gorgeous ocmposition that's sharp as a tack and the colors are so vivd and brilliant. Excellent technically and a pleasure to behold. WEll done and TFS. Gerald

Hallo Fulvio,

Goed geschilderd mijn vriend. Bedankt.

Groeten uit Vlaanderen,
John.

Hi Fulvio,
Heel mooi, bedankt!
Groeten,
Lars

Fulvio, you have got this light down to a science but in this one I also really like the complete and total misalignment of the windows on the back of the building. None of this of course would work without the crisp focus that lets us see the tiles on the roof and the other detail that makes us feel as tho we are there looking for our selves. Great capture.

Greg

Hi Fulvio.
Fantastic varying shades of brilliant green that is wonderfully complimented by the lovely orange roof all seen below the lovely pastel blue sky.
Excellent clarity and razor sharp details to this lovely Dutch home.
Regards, Tom
PS I'm off to Maine for about 10 days with Gunner and his mate Buddy (border collie lab mix). Hope to have so salty seaside images when we return.

Another great composition with wonderful surrealistic colors.

Hi Fulvio
Glad to see that they preserved the old buildings. The colours are so bold and bright. I wonder if the chimney was actually part of the farm where they would bake bread??
Phil

hehee, the chimney is indeed a mystery, but I think you guess about it being from a different building is correct, from the way it is placed I cannot really imagine that it was on purpose to add an outdoor oven for the farm building. another mystery - the windows, no two similar, right? :) and do I see a green chimney behind the building? all that plus a gentle light and bold colours create a great shot, I like it a lot.

regards,
Kristine
