Waiting for a miracle

by Leonard Cohen

Baby, I've been waiting
I've been waiting night and day
I didn't see the time
I waited half my life away
There were many invitations
And I know you sent me some
But I was waiting
For the miracle to come

I know you really loved me
But, you see, my hands were tied
I know it must have hurt you
It must have hurt your pride
To stand beneath my window
With your bugle and your drum
While I was waiting
For the miracle to come

You wouldn't like it baby
You wouldn't like it here
There's not much entertainment
And the critics are severe
The Maestro says it's Mozart
But it sounds like bubble gum
When you're waiting
For the miracle to come

Waiting for the miracle
There's nothing left to do
I haven't been this happy
Since the end of World War II
Nothing left to do
When you know that you've been taken
Nothing left to do
When you're begging for a crumb
Nothing left to do
When you've got to go on waiting
For the miracle to come

I dreamed about you, baby
It was just the other night
Most of you was naked
But some of you was light
The sands of time were falling
>From your fingers and your thumb
And you were waiting
For the miracle to come

Baby, let's get married
We've been alone too long
Let's be alone together
Let's see if we're that strong
Let's do something crazy
Something absolutely wrong
While we're waiting
For the miracle to come

When you've fallen on the highway
And you're lying in the rain
And they ask you how you're feeling
Of course you say you can't complain
If you're squeezed for information
That's when you've got to play it dumb
You just say you're out there waiting
For the miracle to come...

Hi Ivana,
good choice of the POV and composition : alone and two... Strange how the ground seems to be made in metal with this tone used.
Excellent!
Take care
Fred

Hi Ivana,
This is a well-thought and interesting composition. Love the distribution of the light pavement with a dark coloured umbrella and darker pavement with lighter coloured umbrellas; it's very effective. However, I my humble opinion that pavement is missing some 'textures'.
Regards,
Maria

Ahoj Ivana,

taky miluju Cohena a též tu prší a prší. Perfektní náladovka se vzory dlažby a příjemnými odlesky.

měj se hezky

Hello Ivana,
A lot of melancholy there, enhanced by the choice of B&W and the geometric tiling.
Your photo inspires a lot of feeling. I find very impactful the way you composed it, people passing and "meeting" in complete anonymity, hidden under their umbrella. Of course the POV is great to make tense this feeling.
I like the way all the choices you made about his photo (POV, B&W, composition etc.) creates this melancholic mood.
Have a nice day, sunnier than this one hopefully ;)

Neat composition. I like how the pavement is parted into the wet, gleaming area and the opaque part. Different parallell paths..

Hello Ivana,

Wonderful song by Cohen.
And what a very nice black and white with those strong diagonals and patterns in the tiles! Love the off center placement and the 1 + 2 = 3 approach here. Very nice!

Greetings,
Dennis

Hello Ivana! Its a nice photo! The b&w fits perfectly to the image and you got it from a nice POV. Good to see the wet floor as a detail.

Bonjour Ivana,
Bravo for this excellent shot!
I like the graphics of the ground with the drops which intervene, the opposition of both parts of the street with people who circulate the other way around.
very beautiful reflections also.
Congratulations!

What I like here, Ivana, is that the people with the light umbrella are on the dark side of the diagonal, and the one with the dark umbrella is on the light side. It's almost like yin and yang. "People with umbrellas from above" is not an original photographic theme, but when you bring in a new element like that, it's well worthwhile and very pleasing! Regards, Ken.

This photo is like poem - few words, lots of place for analysis ;)Looks good desaturated. It resembles yin and yang balance, umbrellas contrasting with the background.
