Photographer's Note

Trolltunga is a tongue-shaped rock jutting out of a cliff over a deep blue sinuous mountain lake in the Hardangerfjord area of Norway. The troll's tongue owes its name to its shape and location in Viking Norway.

The nearest town to this location is Odda, which is located on the banks of the fjord. A short drive from Odda leads to the starting point of an 11 kilometre trek. The first two kilometres are a gruelling vertical climb up 1000 metres through a forest. The path then flattens out and eventually leads upwards through snow and lakes to this awe-inspiring site. The views along the trek are fantastic and one can see the bright white Folgefonna glacier in the distance.

After admiring this natural spectacle, one has to hike all the way back; a challenging 22 kilometre trek that is absolutely worth it if you are going to be treated to a view like this one.
