"Bergen, like its sister-city Seattle, has been nicknamed The City of Rain for its plentiful rainfall - annual precipitation is 2250 mm (88 inches) on average. This is because the city is surrounded by mountains that cause moist North Atlantic air to undergo orographic lift, which yields abundant rainfall. Rain fell every day between 29 October 2006 and 21 January 2007, 85 consecutive days."

It wasn't raining every day during the months I spent there, but it felt like that.
The reflections on the ground were stunning, hope you like it.

You missed the sunbut madenevertheless afien photo. Good to accentuate thecobblestones and the wooden planks with their reflections of the lights.

Erika,
This is a great shot using the wet boards to create a reflection. The reflection adds depth and balance for the shot. Your blending of natural and artificial lighting is great giving us nice golden hues as well as the natural colors of the buildings. The day I spent in Bergen in June 2006 was bright and sunny, I guess I was real lucky.

Régi jó bergeni (esős) idők, igaz?
Tetszik a kép, a többieket meg nem ismétlem, hogy milyen jó a tükröződő vizes fa, stb. Érdekes lett volna pl. egy jobb géppel/objektívvel egy kis mélységet kihozni belőle, de ezen pont nem lehet változtatni. Majd a legközelebbi bergeni útnál? :)

You have my complete sympanthy...i live in Vancouver Canada, just north of Seattle...and we too have an overabundance of rainfall each year!

i really am impressed with the colours you were able to capture in the dampness. Especially the windows on the left on the buildings

Hi Erika,

My favourite part of this picture is the variety in colours of the shop fronts on the right, so very different to England (though the rain isn't) and I think you've captured that colour wonderfully.

The city of rain in the country of rain, that fits well my own personal experience... However it provided something I like a lot in this image, the reflections on the wet pavement and wood, good street perspective also

You capture the atmosphere very well on this wet and windy November day...
The light reflects so nicely in the wet pavement, with some fine details in the Bryggen architecture!
