Another view taken in Norvegian Folksmuseum just outside Oslo, the stave church of the museum. The term of stave church comes from the building technique, where the wooden parts are assembled vertically rather than horizontally. Some more information about the technique below.

PS Elements 5.0

Some details from the website of the museum:
The stave church from Gol in Hallingdal was built about 1200. Around 1880 it was decided to replace it with a new church. The Society for the Preservation of Ancient Norwegian Monuments bought the old church, and King Oscar II financed its re-erection at his new open-air museum. The Borgund stave church was used as a model for the restoration. The name "stave church" refers to the way the church is built. A "stave" is a wooden pillar or post which supports the roof. Churches were supposed to be high and lofty, and stave construction made this ideal possible to in wood. The west and south portals are carved with plant and dragon motifs. Carved masks at the tops of the staves are dimly visible by the light which filters in through the portholes. There are runic inscriptions carved in the choir wall, including the Lord's Prayer in Latin. These runes presumably date from the time the church was built.

Hi Emmanuel.Good shot and very interesting picture.Nice kind church.
Best regards, Bosko.

Bonsoir Emmanuel

Roger

Bonjour Emmanuel,
Great photo of one of the prides and landmarks of Norway, a stave church. Good vertical composition and excellent quality. I like the pattern of all the roof tiles. The person was a nice inclusion too.
Regards,
Lars
