Photographer’s Note

I found this poorly maintained little building along a countryside road…

The low light is typical for the season we are now entering, and the days are noticeably shorter for each week passing.

But there will still be many photo opportunities, they are just different ones!

A very atmospheric one! The texture of the wood creates a wonderful contrast to the rest of the scenery - and otherwise it somehow fits to it. One can feel cold here.
I like how you included the wonderful wide landscape here.

You found a old picture in your winter archive, perhaps get we next month the next winter, the old house is nice placed to the left side.
Sharpness and clarity be superb.
This is fantastic depth and good perspective.
Real colours, the choice of your angle this gives more dynamic.

Hi Pablo,

The point of view takes our eyes toward the mountains which is giving depth to the composition. It is also showing the details and colors of the old barn. The reflection of the light on the snow is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

lovely detail of the "poor" building in a cold winter day. Your image translates well all that atmosphere you talk about in the note. I like a lot how you composed, showing part of the snowed mountains in the background e reserving the left half of the image for the textures of the old façade. Well done!

Hi Pablo.

I like the close framing exposing fine details of this shack. The weed popping out of the white snow adds impact to this shot. Dreamy view of the mountain and I'm sure the snow is slowly making its way to the ground soon in Norway.

The low light can be seen, it must be depressing when the day light gets shorter and shorter. It's a fine shot with bold FG and more discrete BG. Due to the bad light the snow get a blue hint, but the colors in general have a find saturation. Sharpness is high. Well done

Hi Pablo,
A little bit of red left in between black, white & various grey tones.
Good compo using a bit more then half the photo for the barn and the rest to show the snowy forest on the mountain slopes. Must be lots of (fresh) deep snow that the forest looks pretty white.

The tight framing on the ramshackle old shed is unusual and it works very well here. The faded colours of the shed contrast well with the monochrome background.

Hi Pablo, my first thought was you have winter already. Maybe, but this is January photo. Great contrast of this faded red shack and the snow. Wow, I do not envy you the autumn and winter. You should like birds fly somewhere south to have more light.

The wrecked timbered house still witness its location. I wondered you haven`t framed it utterly.It looks to a beautifull valley. The erected leaveless plants certainly will bloom at the proper time. They add a good effect in the picture. Regards. Domingos

Hello Pablo,

you have a good skill in selecting the essential out of a landscape. This shakle with the snow and the distant mountains evokes the Norwigian scenery rather than describe it. It's an image which possesses a strong icon-like feature, transporting at once the observer in that particular ambiance.

Hei Pablo,

Since the you had captured the first snow fall of the year in your previous picture I thought that this was a follow up but then I realised it was taken in January 2007. You have captured the mood of a cold and cloudy winter day in Scandinavia. The close up the wall of the barn works well here. It adds some colour to the scene. TFS and have a fine week!

Hello Pablo,

You have provided strong contrasts with this shot.
The f/g is dominated by the red, dilhapidated building, sharp and textured. The ground beyond is natural, neutrally coloured and gently blurring with distance.
A well composed, thought evoking shot.

When I first saw that photo, I had a shock-it could not be such a weather in Norway now in October, I thought. Then I saw it is an older picture taken in January 2007. Excellent simple compo, with the distant snow-covered mountains, the winter sky, the old red barn and those dried plants in the FG. Simple and effective compo.

A rustic and abandoned place can make a good photography subject, especialy with the right light condition. This one is of a more melodramatic tone due to the low light and snow. tfs.

One of our TE-members was uploading a picture today with an old lady behind the windows somewhere in Rome and was complaining that she couldn’t go outside for it was too cold. She is very lucky that she wasn’t born in this shed.
Excellent picture with the lost colours and lost shape of the shed.

Hello Pablo, This old shack makes for an interesting scene, the warm reds contrast well with the cold white snow, although in ruin could offer some comfort.
When I first saw this I thought winter has arrived a little early in your part of the country but your note & date tells me a different story, It is not that could yet. Nice one.
