Photographer’s Note
Bryggen in Bergen has its roots from the 12th century. It has been destroyed several times of fires. The great fire in 1702 destroyed most of the city and Bryggen as well. There was also a fire at Bryggen in 1955 which destroyed the houses in the left part of the picture. They have rose again from the ashes. The main part of Bryggen was built up after the fire in 1702. What makes it very interesting is that the Bryggen houses has kept the same structure every time it has been re-built. For a long time Bryggen was the economical center of Bergen. Bryggen is now at the Unesco`s list over world heritage.
