Photographer's Note

This is the river Gaula in Central Norway, passing through a narrow stretch near Hovin on its way to Trondheimsfjorden. At the end we can see an old railway bridge still in use, and just below that bridge is one of the best places for salmon fishing… You really have to pay to get the opportunity to try your luck there!

Gaula is one of the best salmon rivers in Norway, each year fishing enthusiasts catch some 30.000 to 40.000 kilo depending on seasonal conditions. Most of the river is open to the public for reasonable fees, but the best places are usually tied up on long-term contracts.
