The hour after sunset is offering a variety of shades of blue at this time of year. This is from Botnane in the Sauda-mountains, just a handfull of cabins right below the treelimit. The Christmas 2007 didnt bring much snow, but up here at 750 meters the conditions for skiing were really fine this day. Unfortunately heavy rain destroyed it in the next days..
More about Sauda here.

Hi Jon,
Very beautiful, peaceful photo. It has a soft character to it with the snow and clouds, but the photo is very sharp and detailed. You also chose a really great viewpoint. Very well done.

Hej John,
excellent winter landscape, very well managed shot with the ideal depht of field. You have transcended the ordinary with this work. The light is fantastic. Bravo.
Kind Regards.

Hi Jon,
Lovely winterland scene ... I like the red houses contrasting the white snow. Interesting sunset phenomenon with blue colors rather than the usual warm orange color cast. Well captured and presented. Well done! tfs
Cheers,
Renier

Hi,Jon,
A very nice shot seen by a keen observing eye and realised with a nice composition.
Very nice!

Hi Jon and be welcomed here on TE as i'm just discovering your gallery. This is a very nice shot where i think the POV makes the difference. I would have first thought that little houses where misplaced on the compo cause too centered but no, watching the foreground and the bckground, everything articulates around those houses.
Technically nothing to say.
Excellent shot

Hi Jon.

fine compo with three routes leading the eye to the houses. I usually wish that in winter scenes the snow is snow white, but I suppose you wanted to show the pastel colors of the dusk.

Hi Jon,
What a great winter view.Excellent perspective.TFS.
Cheers!

Howdy Jon!
Amazing landscape. Wonderful red houses. Excellent lightness. Very original panorama.

hello Jon,

Beautiful ' Christmas ' atmosphere. I just expected a deer coming out there.
Very nice light and sharpness.
Happy new year, Jon !

Hi Jon,
Wonderful winter composition.
Lovely snowy landscape.
Lovely red houses.

Hi Jon,
What really makes this picture for me is the bird's-eye viewpoint which almost gives the feeling of flying. The scenery is magnificent, especially in this light with hints of red and magenta tempering the blue. I particularly like the way the eye can follow the ski tracks from the bottom into the picture, around the huts and off down the hill into the far distance...
Very nice!
John

Hi Jon,
another beautiful pic of yours. What a composition, a treat, the hills, the bushes, the traces in the snow that lead to the cabins, the eyes can wander about and then go further to the woods and the sky. Great blue hour with a touch of warmer tones, very good work...compliments!

TFS

Hello Jon

This is a veritable winter wonderland. The little red cottages stand out dramatically against the snow, itself dark in this northern hinterland on the shortest day of the year. The converse side of this, I've been at the North Cape on June 21 at midnight when it was still light out.

The composition here is simple, but elegant. You've chosen an excellent vantage point to get this perspective; and you have exposed it masterfully.

Warm regards,

Bulent

Hi Jon,
Georgeous scene capture here with the lovely little red cabins giving warmth to this stunning winter landscape. The rugged hills with the dorment shrubbs covered in snow, the primitive fence and the lovely grey sky giving way to a pale blue are marvelous elements to this perfect image.
Regards, Tom

Hei Norte!
You have posted some beautiful pictures in your galley, in particular this one. Lovely place. I like the forground with these trees, the fence and the path in a spot of light. Maybe, I'll have tried not to put the houses in the middle, but it's already nice like this.

Hallo Jon!
You nearly can't compress more winter into one photo - a gorgeous one. This scenery truly is beautiful and somehow cosy. Your point of view shows these cabins with its surroundings very well. It'S a bit like a painting ...
Greetings from springlike Germany - and have a nice weekend!
Frank

The atmosphere is magic in this picture. Then the red houses give the perfect touch of color.

Hello Jon,
I find it a lovely landscape with many fine shades of blue. Also the composition is perfect with the hill producing a diagonal structure and the small gate - though I do not see its purpose.
Best whishes

Could be a toy village :) These houses look cute 'n charming. Beautiful winterscape.

Natalia

Hei Jon,
The light is beautiful!
Just enough so we can see the details in the snow...
Good point of view to show this cluster of red cabins, a fine composition with great winter atmosphere!
But I still wonder what those tracks are...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hello Jon,
Perfect composition for a perfect photo! The POV is fantastic like the sharpness. The most I like is the small gate on the right.
I wondered whether it would have been better in B&W, but I realized that the brown colour of the houses are very important here.
TFS!
Best wishes,
Marci

A lovely landscape Jon, with all the elements well placed. The light is excellent too.
Best regards,
Catherine

Hello Jon, this is so beautiful.I love the trees and shrubs all covered in snow, giving a lovely texture to the ground as we see it.There are beautiful details in the fence and the little houses.
The light is very special, you say that it is after sunset?
Tfs, regards Jean.

Life in this place is wonderful...

Hej på dej Jon!
Since last time you have posted some remarkable pictures, and this is sure one of them. I would love to spend a christmas in one of those Cabins no electricity, no television no computers just some great company and some old fashion games.
I like this kind of Ambient light you have captured here. the low clouds and the spruce forest in the valley behind.

Hi Jon,
this is a really outstanding photo. The light is so gentle with the snow, it feels like really being there. Simply breathtaking!

Hi Jon
I just spotted this shot on the front page of TE and it immediately caught my eye. The red houses add a pretty touch of colour amid the white landscape and look like toy houses! The dusk light gives a still and magical feel. A wonderful piece of work.
