[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
The railways from Flam to Myrdal, in Norway, called Flamsbana, is the third steepest in the world (thank you to all of you who clarified this point).
In 20 Km it climbs almost 900 meters, and it goes from sea level to a beautiful alpine landscape, with waterfalls and snow.
A must if you are travellingin this area.
It is also possible to go up by train, and come down walking along a trail, and take the train half way.
This picture is taken at a small station half way, while waiting for the train back to Flam.

Hallo Stefano!
A really beautiful and inventive photo! The buildup truly is skillful and including these hikers works very well. I have been there many years ago!

Hello Stefano,

The composition and the framing are very good there. The curves of the rails are driving nicely the look in the picture from foreground to background.
It should have been an interesting experience to take this train.

Yves.

I will tell you the first thing that i said in my head, WHOA! Thats the curves of the rails amazing!

Hi Stefano.
A very good image indeed. I like the way the railway snakes across the scene. The people on the left add life and colour. The DOF is really good here, in this excellent, creative composition. Well done.
Regards,
Andrew

Ciao Stefano,

Ciao
andrea

olá,
very nice pov of this railway!
cheers
pedro

Ciao
Ludo

Hi Stefano
Beautiful ( S ) my friend
Very nice framming
very nice photo

Hi Stefano,
Quite impressive angle where use of tele and a walking path next to line emphasize steepness. And the S curve looks great of course.
It is not the steepest railway line in the world though. Here's one example of a steeper line.
(Wikipedia page of Flåmsbana claims that it's the third steepest adhesion railway, but that's not true either.)
Kari

Ciao Stefano,

Stefano,
an image that works extremely well just because you had the patience and the eye to seee that you need some people included in the curve to provide the right scale and the impression of steepness of the traintracks. otherwise it wouldn't have worked. i guess you used a high focal lenght to achieve some compression effect, right?

Thats lovely and so beautifully captured. the hues are perfect and the mood is sooo...i want to step off the train and start walking on the tracks!!!

Great perspective shot!
Very hard to get a deep depth of field here, the f/8 helped a lot but your exposure could have been a little longer (say, 1/100) to accomodate a smaller apperture (say, f/12?) if your objective allowed it (I don't see your camera model). Then again, my current camera could'nt have given more anyway :D
Great curves on the railway, and the people give a sense of scale.

Also, it does seem as this is not the first but in fact the third steepest adhesion railway in the world.

To my knowledge, some Cog Railways are much steeper, such as the Mount Washington cog railway , the second steepest in the world.
I don't know which one is THE steepest, it should be in the list.

Excellent composition here.. Really nice! Regards, Doug

ciao,
Fabio.

Stefano: the tracks for a perfect geometric element in your compo. Fine indeed. regards, c
