The workshop image shows the main church of Røros, and as far as most visitors are concerned the only church. Bergstadens Zir (the name of the old church) is probably one of the most photographed items in Røros…

A few if any of the average tourists know there is another church! While the old one dating back to 1784 is build in traditional church architecture the new one has an original design, both as a church in any setting and as a building in the old mining town Røros in particular.

To the right side you can see one of the two columns of the separate bell tower, and the construction is made with boulders in concrete. The location is not far from the old church, but still in a peaceful part of the town and a bit off the beaten tourist tracks.

The main church in Røros is seating 1600 and by that one of the larger churches in Norway. At the same time Røros is one of the coldest places in the country during winter, with a record of -51C (1916)! This two factors held together makes it easy to understand the need for a smaller everyday house of worship…

The new church can seat 220, and the year of construction was 1962. The architect was Erik Guldahl, originally from Røros. (52)

Hello Pablo,
Beautiful and interesting design of the new church. I like the roof & the stone wall. Nice diagonal in the composition with nice light blueish white sky. Lovely colors & saturation too. Regards. Latiff.

Hello Pablo,
A very interesting and beautiful church, which stands out well against the cool blue sky. The detail is perfectly captured with very good tones and clarity. Does the unusual shape have any particular significance locally?

Hi Pablo,
The architectural style of the church is fantastic. You captured very attractive composition with your perfect POV.
Congrats and have a nice week,
Zeynep

Hallo Pablo!
Interesting! You show us a nearly archaic building here. In spite of its simpleness it is beautiful and I think one can feel sheltered in it. It looks like grown from the soil. I like it!
Greetings from Germany!
Frank

In fact, the architecture is very different from what we are used to see in churches. However, I think it is very nice and I believe it is very well integrated in the surrounding scenery. Well done.
Antonio

Dear Pablo,
You surprised us with a superb architectural show today. Likes the modern church's design and the attractive stone wall. The mood was romantic through the gloomy time. Excellent shot. Have a nice week, my friend

Hi Pablo.

For sure...a strange building for a church. Or, at least, strange for what we see in TE.

Furthermore...a different picture from you so...excellent!

Hi Pablo,

interesting and unusual church. I'd never know about that just seeing its architecture. You've chosen a good pov and manage the exposure, including the sky, very well. Great job!
Regards,
Carlos

Very interesting shots Pablo, you have shown us two different architectures of the churches with very well composition. I like both pictures and especially the old one. Well done my friend...tfs

- Strange building and curious architecture but interesting for a church Pablo, the use of these big pebbles seems to want to remind of that of the stones of the churches of in the past, special but beautiful, TFS and bravo!

*I really prefer the ancient

Hello Pablo
J'ai beaucoup apprécier l'architecture des Stavkirke et plus simplement celles des églises en bois de Norvège, mais celle-ci pour uné glise moderne à une forme plutôt sympa et ses murs de pierres sont de toute beauté.
Beau travail!!

Hi Pablo,
I like your overall composition: comparing the two interesting churches and explaining the entire history. But from my point of view the architecture of the new church has also some elements of the old round churches.
Aren't there any windows or are they not visible due to your POV?
Thanks for sharing this very interesting capture of the new church!
Warm regards
Harriet

Hi, Pablo. Round churches are quite rare. This one has a very nice roof. It is well placed between threes and stands well out against the grey sky and the green grass.
Have a nice evening,
Philippe

Hello Pablo
This could be the first grey sky I observe in your gallery!
A stunning neat church architecture in your portfolio, compared to your historical sacred buildings.
And you know that it's devil-proof: He "can't hide in corners"!
Best regards.

Pablo Hi:

Very good photo, as usual!

Hi Pablo,

I like this modern architecture in a good traditional Norwegian styling. Your quite right about the popularity of the old church by tourist-photographers, but I think it’s a pity that I missed this new one.

Hi My friend,
its interesting modern architecture for Church. clear picture good framing. best wishes .

A rounded church makes an original building. But I will point out that the old stave chuches, if not rounded, had also probably a more compact design nearer from a square than the usual "cross" of the traditional churches.

All the best,

Emmanuel

Hi Pablo,

The point of view is allowing to see the details and colors of the architecture of the new church of Roros. The picture is clear and sharp. The trees are a natural frame to the building. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Bonjour Pablo

hi Pablo

Not sure how this architecture lands in Norway but is it conventional or influence coming from elsewhere?

Quite interesting though to see church roof of this shape, for practical reasons perhaps? But I can understand the stone walls for insulation purpose besides for more traditional style. tfs

Hi Pablo,
The light isn't the most interesting one in any of them, but there was little that you could do about that. However, both are very nice presentations of the churches, any of them very charming, but this one here specially original.
TFS, Regards, José.

Hello Pablo,
A very interesting architectural church design. The stones on the church and the stones on the right column creates a well balaca in the compo.

Hi Pablo, You show interesting things from Norway each time. This very solidly built church is simple and strong. The wall on the right side seems on a lean? Good clarity and colours. TFS. Murray.

Hi Pablo,
I love the detail in the stonework, the roof and the sky. Great contrast between the 'famous' church and this much more user-friendly place

Because you did a much-needed WS that improved contrast for me, I tried one to straighten the skew for you. However, it isn't nearly as effective as yours.

Hello Pablo,

This is a very nice modern architecture, the detail is perfectly captured with very good tones and clarity.
Perhaps, I like the old churches most beautiful, but this is a personal idea of my.
Therefor I find your WS picture with the church and square in foreground also very nice.
Very well done me friend, TFS.

Hi Pablo,
this looks a bit like a large hut, but the tiles on the roof are different. Interesting construction, well explained. The missing light (differences) is good managed by you.

Bonjour Pablo,

Hi Pablo,

In Brittany we have also circular religious buildings…. For proof the photograph of our friend Jean-Michel Daoudal. Here architecture is broader than high. Photograph interesting and thank you for the WS where one can compare the other style of church. Thank you Pablo.

With all my friendships and one very good WE,

Jean-Charles

Hi Pablo,
This architecture is interesting, I like its textures of stone that join the natural and green landscape.
I like its aesthetic result and its graphism, in spite of the small distortion of the vertical one in the wall of the right side provoked by the wide angle lens, which Patricia has corrected perfectly in a WS.
It is a good work.
Best regards,
Josep

A strange but interesting design for a church here.
Hi Pablo, very good done to show us this church.

Pablo, this is a nice shot and I like the way that pat stood it back up. Colors while dark are pretty good and the ws helps put it all in perspective, and I like the new architecture. Fine presentation.

Greg

Olá Pablo, love the design of the new church, which doesn't happen so easily in other parts of the world. The round shape males it quite attractive and I can imagine a confortable and warm(er) interior. A pitty you didn't get the usual nice blue sky here, as it can be seen in WS. I agree with Pat about the correction at right. Good presentation of the place and the two churches.
have a nice weekend,
ricardo

Hi Pablo,

-51C eh? That is mighty cold but I have experienced colder ;-) Nice little church showing interesting architecture. The roof is definitely a focal point here. Nice perspective of this place and excellent note. Thanks Pablo :-)
