Photographer’s Note

Another photo from my trip through Roztocze. The river on this one is Tanew in the reserve "Noises over Tanew" ( Szumy nad Tanwią ).

A slippery foot-path goes along the shore.

The legend says that one time a knight, Gołdap, went for a war leaving his beauty daughter Tanew in a castle. Then came Tatars ready to take adventage of her but the walls was well defended, with great heroism. Tatars set the stronghold on fire to banish defenders. Tanew choosed death. She jumped from a clif stright into the river.

Noises in the name comes probably from sound of many little waterfalls spread over the river.
