Photographer's Note

In the small village of Kamieniec Zabkowicki there is a monumental palace built by Princess Marianne of the Netherlands, Princess of Orange-Nassau (1810-1883), wife of Albrecht of Prussia.
The palace was built between 1838 and 1872 in Neo-Gothic style.
During the Second World War, the the Nazis used the palace as a storehouse of artworks looted in Silesia.
After the war it fell into ruin and the private owner tried to save what he could save, only in 2010 began the renovation and reconstruction of the palace, the works are continued until today. Only a part of the palace is accessible to tourists.
The palace is huge, the terrace itself is 800 meters long.
It has four corner towers, thick walls, resembles a medieval castle and is so called, although in fact it is a summer palace. Marianna spent the equivalent of a few tons of gold on construction.
