Photographer's Note

In fulfilment of a promise I made to Snunney:
The island of Madeira shows a landscape full of high mountains, steep slopes and significant lack of flat terrain suitable for human settlements.
As a consequence, even the smallest pieces of ground are required for houses, gardens, agriculture and streets.
Model railway landscapes have to represent the original in a condensed way, with tiny properties, steep streets and sharp bends.
The Madeira concept is very similar to my eyes. Streets, roads or - in some cases - estates will be mill-cutted from the ground if necessity arises.
View from the Funchal-Monte cable car down into some condensed corner of Funchal.
