Hi Luis,
for sure you were right to not let it go... The best feature of this shot is the pleasant golden colour of the near rocks and the path. I suspect that it could be also a flare, but it is absolutely not important, as the result is great. Well done, Dario.

Breathtaking picture, Luis.

My compliments. Colors are excellent, picture is crisp and sharp, the setting is something quite special.

I like how the rocks form this v-shaped opening, being first quite light in color, later changing into a much darker color, to finally changing lighter again with the distant fog. Excellent transition which brings out a soft contrast which goes nicely with the rays of the sun reflecting down on the rocks.

This is a real beauty that I sure would like on my wall!

Red sunsets/sunrises! You know you're going to get a lot of points once again... :-)

But I have to tell you I think your red sunsets and sunrises are not all the same - they do have a touch of originality in each one.

In this one, I think the compo is quite original because of that diagonal that separates the higher ground on the right from the valley along the left-center of the image. It works quite well and we get a feeling that must be a very beautiful place indeed.

My God, Luis, why do you apologize for THIS wonderful landscape? Please never do that, for it is the most enchanting of settings, simply unearthy and I am very grateful you didn't let go with it! I myself cannot get enough of it... I keep looking at it and looking at it and am startled and hypnotized by the colours, the composition, that utter warmth of the yellow flare of the sun. Luis,
spent my summer hols here last year 06 and must say the weather can play havoc. One minute it's sunshine, the next it's cloudy with the clouds rolling down from the mountains. Wonderful scenery as you have here although I didn't go to the top of Pico do Areeiro. And it has a stoned path as well. Lovely view you have posted though Luis. Have a good holiday.

Espectacular, Luís! Sendo tu um especialista de paisagens, acho que tens a obrigação de nos dar uma destas de vez em quando ;-))
Este tipo de paisagem é a que me excita mais: Ter a sensação de estar no topo do mundo, seja aqui ou nos Himalaias. Este caminho à direita a serpentear é uma delícia e confesso que tenho inveja de não ter estado aí também, num sítio que ainda não conheço. Aquela estrela solar ficou mesmo boa a dar-nos a esperança de um futuro risonho ;-))

Aaaaaaaaah! From orchid Island (Madeira) I wish you the best 2007 filled with the best light you deserve. I see.... Well, I don't see an orchid, I'm not that crazy! ;) But I see the light!
I have to tell you Luis, that I am a big fan of sunsets... when they are just in front of my nose and directly seen with my own Jade eyes! And yes, sometimes, I even commit that greatest of all the greatest sins in photography: I take a photo of them!!! Can you believe? What a shame! But thanks to you, Luis, I feel there is even a greater sinner here: you decided to post it!!!
Well... I'm happy you did! :D Not because, that way I am half forgiven, but merely because.... It is a very beautiful one! Top class! I love it when the sun is trying to play the star. The soft light on the rocks, the small path of tidy stones in the middle of rough ones, the desert kind of beauty... A wonderful blend of roughness and softness...

Hi Luis,

Our sun is a star. It is the star that brings life on this planet made of rocks and water. Everything is there on this photo, in a very well balanced composition : the rocks, the water suspended in the air that create that extraodinary horizontal line, the life growing in that rough environment. It seems that some kind of intelligent life appeared in that environment too and began to model the rocks to move around more easily.

Even more intelligence is visible, it is the soul that composed that view. I wish a happy new year to that soul from who I learned alot about photography in 2006.

man, this is such a bloody cold place to be in the summer (i was there few years ago) when the difference of temperatures between the resorts and the peak is like 35 C, but how about end of december?
Sunsetting there is great, i couldnt resist it either,

una composición excelente, muy agradable y estética. El efecto del sol poniéndose tras el horizonte con la estrella de su último brillo es fantástico. El paisaje me gusta, tu punto de vista tan alto lo hace más impresionante. El camino pavimentado con las losas que se ve entre las rocas de la cumbre es muy interesante y peculiar, no había visto nada así en mis trekkings por las montañas hasta ahora.

Exceptional sun flair and very edgy red horizon. The different layers of mountains provides a lot of dimension. The landscape is also very particular and picturesque, with loads of textures and patterns. Very good composition with diagonal line, projecting us directly in the image.

When I think of Madeira this is definitely not a view that comes to my mind and I would never have guessed it was from Madeira. But stunning for sure. The composition and the view of those mountains with great colours makes this a beautiful sunset-shot!!!

This is such beautiful scenery taken just at the right moment with the sun setting and the f/22 star making it really special. The interesting pathway helps draw the eye to the back of the image.

Obviously...very difficult, if you have ambitions.
If you want your photo to yell the hell out of its guts.
Millions of nature photos in every possible album and magazine of the world.
Trying to be good, to be best, to be UNIQUE !!!
Holy Mary... It's very, very difficult.
Competition is there, waiting for you with their fangs exposed and dripping with stinky saliva.
Millions of photos! Seemingly...So easy.

Que cores - O reflexo do sol namontanhae a linha dorada do horizonte daouma sensacao de leveza. E A neblina acentua mais essa leveza - UaU. Da aindamais vontade de ir a Madeira :D
E agora a pergunta tecnica - o ceu - teve a lente polarizada ??? E' que as cores estao tao crispidas ...

You are definitively sooo skilled in photography, so versatile and i saw nobody now on TE that can mix with so much facilities style and kind of picture ... you can street picturing as sasa do, and the next day landscaping as adam burton or scorfel could.
This is on this kind of picture that i stop today, my eyes are really amazed by this fascintaing picture.
No no i don't exagerate my words, i'm honest and you are definively a "killer" here on TE.

Hello Luis
Do you mind if I come to you for advice when my ND grads arrive, you seem to know how to use these filters, the results are astonishing. The sun starburst effect is mind blowing against the mountain ranges. The rocks have a great blend of neutral tone with a subtle warmish tone against the pathway. Colours, sharpness, clarity are perfect - I cant compliment this capture enough, fantastic.
