Photographer’s Note

In Funchal, you can find all kinds of medicinal herbs sold by local ladies who try this way to supplement their income. They usually sit around a corner in a busy street. The lady you will see in the Workshop was selling little bunches of camomile (called "pineapple mayweed" to emphasize its pineapple scent).

I would have liked to see what was happening in the right of the photo.

It looks as if the person selling the stuff has just gotten up and went away just seconds ago.

The empty chair would have added more to the story in the photo.
