Hi dear TE friends

Place : Municipality- Fundão / Parish-Fundão (zone center of Portugal).

Theme: Spring time / White Stork (Ciconia ciconia)

Announcement of coming spring

Storks are a nature wonder. Nobody can ignore this fascinating kind of birds.

Their body’s are covered with feathers, mainly white, but with red legs and beak.

Height rounding 1 meter and about 3 Kg. They can live in different places, there is no specific habitat. They can eat vertebrate little animals. This kind of birds lives in constant migrations and they are monogamics. Storks don't have pharyngeal, that's why they cannot "sing".

The eggs with the little birds blown by the Spring and when it rains the mother spread the big wings to protect the little creatures.

In each nest there are no more than 5 eggs and it takes about 20 or 30 days to let them born.

* 15 368 surveyed birds
* 7 684 nest with couples living in Portugal
* 1 000 colognes, but this number can be higher.

This is my first wild life photo,This photo was taken together to the A-23 motorway.

Olá Filipe,

A foto está bonita,com umas cores agradáveis eu pessoalmente cortaria alguns ramos de árvores do lado esquerdo da foto, para dar mais enfase às aves, mas é uma opinião pessoal.

Aí está a primavera em Portugal. São umas aves muito curiosas, em especial pelos locais mais diversos que elas escolhem para fazer os ninhos. A repetição das palavras no nome cientifíco está muito de acordo com a característica das cegonhas andarem e viverem aos pares, como mostra o casal do lado direito.
Está uma foto muito bem conseguida e bonita.

Olá Filipe,
Fizeste uma linda compo com todas aquelas ramagens mais as cegonhas e os seus ninhos com o céu bem azul como pano de fundo.
Não sei até que ponto as cegonhas ainda anunciam a Primavera, pois há cada vez mais a baldarem-se à migração e a passarem cá o Inverno.

In Turkey there is a belief: When you see a stork flying, you will travel a lot this year. When you see him sitting, you will stay at home this year. I hope the number of flying storks that you saw was more than the sitting ones. Anyway your composition is excellent,

How wonderful to be just driving along and see some nesting storks. The touches of white from the storks are very eye catching against the predominant blue and black. Well spotted

Conseguiste um bom resultado, elas normalmente são muito difíceis de captar. Gosto das cores e do efeito das árvores sem folhas.

Não é tão frequente ver ninhos de cegonhas em árvores como é vê-los em postes de electricidade, chaminés ou telhados de edifícios.
O casal da direita ficou bem em evidência sobre o fundo azul.

Hello Filipe -

I like this composition a lot because of the bare trees, but the birder in me says there is too much extraneous material in the image. I am not sure which way to take this critique so I am taking the landscape route. Some parts of the image look to be a touch soft and I am wondering if the DOF is a bit shallow. I am unfamiliar with your camera so I don't know if this is adjustable or not. Exposure is right on with just a touch of OE on one of the birds, but it is not a show stopper when it comes to the image. This is well seen and executed.

A foto está bonita. Gosto muito das cegonhas. In Poland we have a lot of stork,s nests But they are seldom in the places like this. Usually the nests are near the people's houses and the storks come in the same place every year. I love them staying in the nests with the young ones or looking for frogs in the field. As cores e o enquadramento estão excelentes.

Esta foto está muito bem "apanhada". Tem bom enquadramento e côr e mostra o que dizem algun, a nova praga, já que as cegonhas que começaram por ser de arribação são agora prmanentes e vão ocupando quase todo o território. Ainda há pouco tempo só eram vistas no sul e agora já se veem perto do Porto! Além do mais tudo lhes serve para nidificar como se pode ver numa foto por mim posta em que em Aveiro até sobre a autoestrada elas estão. Será que estão disfarçadas e servem para controlo de velocidade ?

É pá, esta faz-me lembrar umas que tenho muito parecidas do Alentejo...Bom dia Filipe, o casal a namorar ali em cima ficou muito bem. Grandes vistas que estas aves arranjam dos seus apartamentos ;-) Gosto do grafismo de toda esta ramagem contra o céu azulinho. Bonita. O WS aproximado é interessante, mas como foto não resultou tão bem.
