Photographer’s Note
Hi dear TE friends
Place : Penha Garcia, it is a Historical Village of Portugal
Region: Municipality- Idanha-a-Nova / Parish – Penha Garcia (zone center of Portugal).
Theme: 1 st of the series, Penha Garcia, historical village (1220)
To see: map view
(EN) -The castle is situated on the southern slope of the Serra de Penha Garcia, overlooking the River Pônsul, where there is also a dam that is an oasis of coolness on hot summer afternoons.
This village was reconquered in the reign of D. Afonso II, in 1220, and then donated to the Order of Santiago. Since 1220 untill the XIX century was Penha Garcia the region's Council. Today, what still is to see is nonetheless impressive and worth recording.
Near Penha Garcia lie the historical villages of Monsanto and Idanha-a-Velha, both with castles that are worth a visit. This is the ideal place to rest your weary body and mind as you take in the view. The hot baths of Monfortinho, very nearby, are set in land that has a wide variety of animal life and they offer visitors water cures and a well-deserved rest.
The Penha Garcia area exhibits a variety of striking characteristics at multiple levels but particularly in what concerns the occurrence of a plethora of fossils and ichnofossils.
Fossils route of Penha Garcia
I hope you guys like it.
* If your target is not our extraordinary beaches, you must visit our Historic Villages, for sure, you’ll not loose your precious time. There, you’ll find a sort of beauty natural stuff. All in all impossible to see in any other place in the world.
Best Regards, Filipe (Portugal)

Filipe,
A really good perspective, with this peeping wall. But surely the shot madly over-sharpened, which somewhat diminishes the effect!

Belo trabalho.
Parabéns e Abraço!

Hi Filipe - interesting angle, the walls are in harmony with the rocks, and the blooming bushes help a lot, maybe the sky is too generous, I would crop about 10% from the top.

Filipe,
Excellent shot of these ruins. The mountains create a nice buildup for the shot leading the eye up to the ruins. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. The deep blue sky forms a nice backdrop for the shot while providing excellent contrast to the rocks.

Outra boa coisa neste trabalho é a nota.

Not much left of the castle, but the sharpness is very nice here, and makes the wall very visble against the blue sky, even if the stones are nearly exactly of the same colors as the rocks which serves as a basis.
All the best,

Hi Filipe,
The smoothness of the image is very appreciable and I like much the beautiful light which emphasizes the site well. The catch of sight in low-angle shot gives to the place an interesting depth. I imagine all the difficulties at that time to build of such buildings.

Hi Filipe,
This is a simple yet elegant composition, well executed technically, producing a very pleasing image.
I like the almost mirror symmetry between the profile of the rocks and the sky.
The sprinkling of flowering shrubs throughout the frame add a nice dose of complementary color to the blue sky.
The best feature is the harmony between the castle ruins and the rocks. The color, the overall shape, and even the size of the stones in relation to the roughness details in the rock face all speak to a lovely sense of design in the architects, which you have conveyed visually quite well.
Regards,
- William
