Monsanto is a village of Portugal of the region of Beira.

Belonging " Aldeias historiacas of Portugal " was considered to be the most Portuguese people, his medieval delight makes it unrepeatable, labyrinthine streets get lost for his and to rise to the high thing to contemplate the sight from his castle is an authentic experience.

Monsanto is nailed in the slope of a small but steep mountain, characterized by big masses of granite that often are a part of the housings. On top of the mount placed in granitic masses one finds the imposing castle of Monsanto now already in state of ruin, but that there even preserves well his wall, court of weapon and turrets.

The human presence in this Portuguese people goes back to the Paleolithic, since they testify different archaeological traces. Monsanto, one of cotogether architectural of the country luso, became famous in 1938 when it was elected the most Portuguese " people of Portugal ". At present there can still be observed the houses that hide between the crags of granite and his small gardens.

Housing with roof of granitic skittle
(He marries " of a tile "). A typical restaurant much known in the town.
This photo dedicated it to Filipe Sacavem, that thanks to his photos of this nice and picturesque place, brought in me desire to go to know it.

Ciao Charo,
complimenti
Giorgio

hello Charo,
most bizarre sight, the stone looks so much bigger than the building underneeth it. the neat little red chairs add to the surreal mood of the scene, it's something Dali might appreciate. I like a lot how you used the narrow streets to frame the central part of the photo, very nice work.

with best regards,
Kristine

Hi Charo,
Great colours and quality with all the details of buildings.Nice light and great architecture.

hi Charo

Really it is very rare to see a sculpture like this next to houses. Such imagination! A fine view showing good color contrast and well composed capture of the buildings.

tfs, bill

E você divide tudo isto aqui no TE, obrigada e parabéns!

Hello Charo. A really unusual and worth seeing motive. And in the midst of this threateningly working idyl a small restaurant. Photographically top. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hey Charo,

A great photo, and a fine documentary image, that shows us ... just how mad people actually are? :>
No, really a very fine motive, but I wonder how it looks on the inside. And I`ve got to give it to them, that`s an innovative and an attractive looking house. I know that there are such houses, built into the rock in Cappadocia, but Portugal, thats another thing all together, great work!

Best regards.

Hello Charo,

Very spectacular for to see, these big stone above this house.
Also the stairs to both sides care for depth and perspective.
Composition and presentation are superb.
Nice realisation, very well done.

Best regards,
John.

Hello Charo,

I'm glad to see that there is now a bar in Monsanto, when we were there a long time ago it almost felt like a ghost town.

The sight is impressive and you caught it well. A very good post.

Benny

Hi Charo
Wonderful place very well captured. Excellent POV and details. I like the satured colours and how you framed it
TFS and hugs
Aires

Bonjour Charo,

Bem captada!

Hi Charo,
I guess i am as astounded as you were, upon seeing this huge rock carved as a house (or a café?). Your high POV was god enough to give all you want to present, and i am curious about this lovely place full of granite-carved labyrinth. TFS,
Deniz

Hola Charo:

Hello Charo,
not a common roof, indeed! Hardly believable that a human settlement could be erected unde these condition. Very interesting!

Hi Charo. Looks like a cross between a village and a landslide ;-). Well captured. Good POV and composition. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi Charo, in this photo what counts is what is captured. I don't care much about the POV, DOF etc. What has captured me is the giant rocks that stand on the top of a building, let it be a restaurant or a house. I wouldn't feel comfortable with all this power above my head.
Nice catch
TFS
