The Porto downtown with the City Hall in background

This is the very well known 'Avenida do Aliados' with the D Pedro Statue in foreground.

I hope you like it !

Porto is the capital of the North of Portugal. With a wonderful geographical location next to the Douro river mouth, and an exceptional architectural value, the city centre of Oporto is classified as World Heritage by UNESCO since 1996.
Through this District coast several tourist and holiday resorts are located, such as the cosmopolitan beach of Espinho, busy ports such as Matosinhos one, or the traditional fishing ports like Póvoa do Varzim.
On the country side of Oporto’s district life is way more peaceful. The choice is wide and pleasant: Amarante and the beautiful River Tâmega, surrounded by lovely mountain ranges and picturesque houses in between majestic manor houses; Vila Nova de Gaia, the main centre for the production of the famous Port wine, where wine is produced and matured, and one can taste the several varieties, or even to go abroad an astonishing tour in one of the Douro’s cruises

Dear Aires,
I remember your previous shot from this square entitled the heart of Porto or something like that.
Now you show another side of this beautiful square.
I remember I spent a lot of time on this square and yet I am not quite happy with my shots. There is no easy way to show it all. You did an excellent job. The colors are fantastic.

una foto che porta la tua firma per il bel contrasto cromatico con il cielo blu, tipico nelle tue foto.
Originali le statue che quasi si confondono con la gente.

uma bonita vista da cidade mesmo, gostei da estátua e desse prédio antigo da prefeitura, rico em detalhes. O céu ficou muito bonito também.

Hi Aires, there are two districts which I like most in Porto. One of them is Foz area which faces to the Atlantic and the other one is this square. I can breath the atmosphere through your photo. Best regards, Tolga
