I arrived late at Caminha, a wonderful ancient small town, situated at the estuary of the Minho River in the North of Portugal (formerly in the Minho Region), being Nature kind enough to present me with this amazing sun set and an unbelievable sense of peace, freedom and belonging. On the picture, you see part of the estuary and Spain. The small town still has an interesting medieval appeal and a beautiful gothic church from the XV-XVI centuries with renascence elements, where one of the most incredible wood nave ceilings in Portugal can be admired. I also found the people truly nice. Like many other border towns, Caminha played an important role in the bold defense and maintenance of the Portuguese independence throughout the centuries. Eight kilometers South of Caminha, the destruction of the coast is named Vila Praia da Âncora, a dreadful touristic place where you would not like to spend your holiday. Let’s hope that this cancer does not spread. Along the northern border, the landscape is magnificent.

A peaceful feeling is well conveyed in this image, in which the last colors of the sunset are just great to look at with the silhouetted hills in BG.
