Photographer's Note

This is the Chapel of S. Pedro das Cabeças, situated a few kilometres far from Castro Verde. It was built in the 16th century in a popular mannerist style. Situated on the top of a hill, it can be seen from a distance. This is also one of my favourites. This place is also very special because it is said that it was here that the Battle of Ourique took place, in 1139. In this battle,a very important one, Afonso Henriques defeated the moors and started calling himself King of Portugal (he became then our first king). Behind this chapel there's a monument commemorating the event.
I'm posting some photos of it in the workshop.
