[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Crato is a small city, about 20km from the city of Portalegre, with 1800 inhabitants. I was surprised with the beauty and vantage location of its cemetery.
There is a great view to the landscape all around the city and the cemetery was clean and colorful with all kind of flowers all over the place, although many were made of plastic. People don't have time to change regulary the real flowers, except for some old ladies like these three, dressed in black, problably all widows. They were the only persons in the cemetery, chating with each otherand I think that the one in the back was a recent widow - she looked sad and the others seemed to be conforting her.
I was taking some photos around and decided to wait for them to pass by. Suddenly this one looked at me and asked: "Are we disturbing?", or better "Do we do wrong?", as a free translation, from "Fazemos mal?".
Of course not, I replied.
The light is not so good, with the background overexposed and I might have ruined a bit with the "shadow & hilights", since I really can't get it right with my not good pp skills. I also tried a b&w version in WS.

PS. Outra vez o primeiro?!!!!!!!!!!

Hallo Ricardo!
Please do not complain about the quality of this photo! The shown is much more important! Why PP here?! This "honest" photo shows a lot of details and these impressive old ladies are included wonderfully. A beautful place!
Greetings from Germany!
Frank

Yeah the dull light is a bit of a shame here, and I don't think converting to B&W would help. If anything, good light is even more important in B&W, where the play of light and shadow takes on a greater role in the composition of the image.
Never mind the light, you caught a great moment here, with the three ladies dressed up for their visit to the cemetery (visiting their husbands?). Oops, just read your note, the lady in sunglasses does look rather upset now you come to mention it.

Cheers,
Ben

Excellent and impressive scenery. Main actreeses are really great! Superb pose of them, and THIS background...
Important photo.
Regards.

it was a very bad day, photographically-wise: harsh light, dull sky...but it does not disturb to perceive this lovely "parade" as an exceptional, beautiful event...
elderly people have something exceptional in them, something that without doubt make them attractive for photographers - and i think it is that "history" written on every inch of their faces, seen in their poses, on their clothes...something that reminds us about passing time...and we rush to "record" this passing world with our cameras...
good stuff, ric,
bw, j.

Hello Ricardo,

A totally other image or usual, but very well with the three woman and the cemetery beside, also perspective a depth with a good background, a cemetery a place where everyone must come, early or late.

Regards,
John.

Fica bem.

Hi Ricardo,
interesting scene from cemetery. Good composition and portraits in natural poses. I like it.
Gr., Aleksander

I like this shot a lot, it shows lot of interesting details. Excellent POV
Best wishes,

Ola Amigo:
I learn now a new portugues word good i like portugues.
About this picture the things I do is crop the overexpose area (even for me this is a grate picture)latter i try B&W or sepia and as a lus use a black frame to give it a balance to the picture, so this will make a better pic.

Have a nice day and um grande abraco para voce

Ola Ricardo
Never mind the dull light, you caught a great moment here, with the three ladies dressed in black. A somber photograph, for which even the light behaves so. I like your composition & the way you presented it to us.
Friendly Regards

Hi Ricardo,
Great shot of these ladies and I have to love their question, "Fazemos mal?"
The statues in the cemetery seem interesting. I would have loved a vantage point which would have included one of them as well as the ladies, but I guess it wasn't possible.
The sky is a bit white, which detracts from the beauty of the photo, but my camera does that too (doesn't pick up the real color of the sky sometimes).

ricardo
