Marvão es una villa portuguesa del Distrito de Portalegre, región Alentejo y subregión del Alto Alentejo, con cerca de 600 habitantes.

Una vista del castillo desde la iglesia de Santiago del siglo XIV.

El Castillo de Marvão se yergue sobre una cresta de cuarzo, a 850 metros del nivel del mar, encerrando en sus muros la villa medieval. Sus muros, reforzados por torres, se distribuyen en líneas defensivas concéntricas:

La línea interna, reforzada por dos torres y un torreón, dominada por la Torre de Homenaje, de planta cuadrada, que le está adosada;
la línea intermedia, coronada por almenas e reforzada por torres macizas;
la línea externa, constituida por la barbacana, de donde parte la cerca que envuelve el monte y comprende la villa. La adaptación de esa defensa a finales del siglo XVII, convertió al castillo en ciudadela de la fortaleza abaluartada, con troneras en las azoteas, permitiendo el tiro rasante.

Marvão is a Portuguese town of Portalegre, Alentejo region and subregion Alto Alentejo, with about 600 inhabitants.

Marvão Castle is located on a ridge of quartz, 850 meters from sea level, its enclosing walls in the medieval village. Its walls, reinforced by towers, are distributed in concentric defensive lines:

The internal line, reinforced by two towers and a tower, dominated by the Tower of Homage, a square, which is attached;
the intermediate line, crowned with battlements and reinforced by massive towers;
the outside line, consisting of La Barbacane, where part of the fence that surrounds the mountain and includes the town. The adaptation of this defense in the late seventeenth century castle converted to a citadel of strength abaluartada, with pockets on rooftops, allowing the shot flush.

This pov is very interesting to show the bell tower as high point. Nice contrast of the roof and good sharpness in your capture to show the rocks as FG against the white walls and red roof.

a charming capture. the almost magenta sky serves well as background for the reddish roof-tops and white walls. the foreground setting is quite successful too.

nuevamente has elegido un POV muy acertado que destaca la arquitectura del lugar y sus elementos más emblemáticos, el castillo, la iglesia, las casas blancas...una vista profunda e interesante.

Hola Charo,
Mas una bella foto de ese pueblo que conozco tan bien. Escogiste un buen PdV, el encuadre muestra algunos de los elementos más distintivos del lugar: el granito, el castillo, la iglesia y las casas blancas con tejados rojos.
Quizás sea solo una impresión errada, pero me parece que hay un ligero exceso de azul.

Hola Charo,

Enviable old texture there especially contrasts between terracotta roofs and white facades. You perfectly add rock formations and castle to the scene with green door. Silhouette of church huge bell is great. Congratulations.
