This is an old photo I took in 1994. I don’t have a scan and then I used my digital camera to make this kind of job and show this for you. I guess isn’t so bad job despite limitations of this equipment. This image was originally took with my analogical asahi-pentax camera.
Here you can see a strange stone cross that is located near a small village called Sanguinheira, land of my ancestors. There are other similar crosses at side of the road between Maxieira and Balancho villages, each cross is positioned in the northern edge of the road and it is located in a place where other ways crossed the main highway, creating a cross of routes. My father told me once nobody knows who put the crosses there, it is something very old. It is told that the lost souls stay in the places where there is a cross of ways; in this region there were many histories about ghosts in the roads and probably someone put these crosses in that places to put the souls away of that area. Anyway I think they are so beautiful on its simplicity, they are part of my history too. Sanguinheira is located near Carvoeiro parish, Mação municipality.

Esta é uma velha foto que tirei em 1994 com minha câmera analógica (asahi-pentax). Como não tenho um aparelho de scan usei minha câmera digital para fazer o trabalho do scan, penso que, apesar das limitações, o resultado não ficou mau.
Vemos aqui uma cruz de pedra localizada próximo da aldeia da Sanguinheira, terra de meus ancestrais. Existem outras cruzes iguais na margem norte da estrada que liga a aldeia da Maxieira à aldeia do Balancho, cada cruz está colocada num ponto onde a estrada principal é cruzada por outros caminhos, criando uma cruz. Meu pai me disse uma vez que ninguém sabe quem foi a pessoa que colocou as cruzes ali, é algo muito antigo. Os antigos diziam que as almas penadas se concentravam em locais onde estradas se cruzavam, provavelmente alguém colocou as cruzes ali para afastar as almas destes locais. De qualquer maneira acho bonita as formas rústicas destas cruzes, elas são parte da minha história também. Sanguinheira é localizada junto a freguesia do Carvoeiro, município de Mação.
