Living in Alfama II Photo

Photographer’s Note

Following the mini-series now we follow thru one of the streets that were leaving from that little square I shown on the previous photo.
The streets get tinyer the sun only breaks thru some parts as the buildings are kind of high for the width of the streets, but enough to create this atmosphere.
In the background, a woman watching the passers go by, fado signs among the walls are easy to find here in Alfama, in almost every street a restaurant with faco actings at night, advert's for a fado session all over the walls.
Alfama is like this, a neighbourhood that loves its tradition and seems not wanting to change ever - i hope it keeps like this, traditional.

Hi Paulo

The dark areas and lighted ares are well balanced, and are effective in creating a warm scene.
having the lady on the patio adds a punch of red, contrasted by lovely blacks and whites.
very good texture on the cobblestones as well.

I MISS THIS PLACE A LOT !!!
I didn't have time to see and to work all my photographs from Alfama and from Alto Bairro...but they will come ;).
Maybe, nothing of particular in your photography....exepting the LOVE for this particular district ! Yes, I LOVE IT, and I will be back...next year, I think.

Muito bom esta captura, bem trabalho as sombras e a luz neste beco de Alfama.Eu acho que o tradicional é bonito, mas somente para quem não vive por lá, porque é um local onde a pobreza impera onde as habitações não são condignas.

Bonjour paulo,
pas facile de capturer de telles lumières, il fait sombre dans cette rue et les ombres sont fortes. Il n'empêche que l'on peut admirer tous les détails des textures des murs.
Une photo que j'airais bien vue en noir et blanc.

siempre es una alegría para mí ver una nueva foto tuya aquí.
Esta toma es otra captura de la esencia y la atmósfera de las callejuelas de Lisboa, con sus viejas fachadas de colores, sus pavimentos de adoquines, sus farolas, incluso con una mujer en un balcón.
Has hecho una buena gestión de la luz para conseguir una exposición perfecta, y una elegantes sombras.
Me gusta, es una foto muy atractiva.

The fine play of light really makes this one!
The sunlight peeping into the narrow street creates a fine mood, where the lady in red is an eye-catcher...
Great details in the ancient architecture, wonderful feeling of depth!

chasing the warm light in those narrow streets of history... dreaming of a fado night... feeling the soft breeze on the face... lisboa has so many attractions for a mediterranean soul. thanks for sharing them all...
